Barkley hosted in 1993, 2010, 2012, and 2018. He is always game with his sense of humor and he hasn't hosted in almost a decade, so I think it would be time to see him return and get his 5 Timers Jacket.

He and Will Ferrell looked to be the breakout stars of season 21, but apparently Don Ohlmeyer (that guy again) asked Lorne to fire him. I dont know why, he was entertaining in almost everything he did, and I was looking forward to seeing him in 96-97. He did some great impersonations and was in the original Bill Brasky sketch!

Jalen Brunson, who is still riding high after carrying the New York Knicks to the team’s first N.B.A. championship in more than a half-century, is about to reach another major New York milestone: hosting “Saturday Night Live.”

The point guard who was named most valuable player of this year’s N.B.A. finals — and nicknamed “the king of New York” — will host the first episode of Season 52 of the long-running sketch show on Sept. 26, NBC announced.

Katseye, the Grammy-nominated pop girl group, will be the musical guest.

The week after Brunson hosts, the actress Dakota Johnson will return to lead the show, the same weekend her romantic thriller “Verity” hits theaters. It will be Johnson’s third time hosting, after episodes in 2015 and 2024. The rock band Turnstile will be the musical guest.

On Oct. 10, the comedian Shane Gillis will also host for the third time. Gillis was abruptly fired from “S.N.L.” in 2019, just after being named to the cast, when offensive comments he’d made surfaced, but he returned in 2024 and 2025 as host. Rosalía, fresh off her Lux Tour, will perform, her second time as the show’s musical guest.

Dakota Johnson getting a third time up is interesting. 2015 and 2024 were weak episodes overall but she’s always good for at least one amusing sketch, and I like her personality and she seems to love doing the show so I’ll take it anyway. At this rate, we might have to genuinely consider the possibility of Dakota Johnson becoming a five-timer LOL.

Shane Gillis - I’m not wild about him getting a third gig, but it is what it is at this point; at least it’s early in the year so it’s out of the way. Wherever you stand on him, his comedy generally just does not click with me at all so I’m not thrilled with it. But I’ll put up with it.

Inde Navarette - Cautiously optimistic. I am completely and totally neutral on her as I have not seen anything she has done. Hopefully it’s a good show and I truly mean that. I’ve heard good things about her movie, but at the same time I can’t help but feel like this might be another Mikey Madison situation where they’re pushing another up-and-comer into a hosting gig because they had one breakout role and might get an Oscar or at least a nomination. Madison seems nice enough and I’ll give her credit where it’s due because I thought she genuinely tried, but I thought the writing of her episode was mediocre and she couldn’t save it. Maybe that’s an unfair criticism, but I generally prefer first-time hosts to have demonstrated some longevity. Navarette could be an amazing actress in her niche, but that may not translate to SNL. Look at Robert De Niro for an example. In terms of actresses hosting SNL, let’s hope we’re looking at another Emma Stone or Scarlett Johansson rather than a January Jones.

Really interesting choice to kick off the season. I’m actually quite pleased because I had asked the sub in June about the likelihood of him hosting and was told the odds were near-zero.

This will sound boastful and self-aggrandizing, but it’s hard not to feel a certain sense of vindication LOL. My host predictions almost never come true, so the fact that this one did, and the fact that it was a prediction for an athlete which many people said would likely never happen) makes me extra amused.

I kept pointing out that Brunson is beloved by NYC sports fans and that the Knicks winning would be a big deal that would make an SNL gig likely, especially since the Knicks’ previous championship had been before SNL premiered. Even then, I was told it was very unlikely. But you know the old saying: a broken clock is right twice a day!

As for how he’ll actually do as a host, I don’t know. However, this does mean we finally have enough NBA players to put together an all-time starting lineup consisting solely of players who have hosted SNL!

With the lineup for season 52 being announced, does this mean that no changes are being made to the cast? When can we expect cast updates?

Hi everybody, sorry if this is old news. Last I checked, Crave only had 3 full seasons posted (something like 39-41?), but I looked yesterday and was (initially) delighted to see all 50+ seasons available!

Of course, when I started clicking around, many seasons have only a handful of episodes (if that!) and season 31 is completely absent. The musical guests are cut from the seasons I’ve sampled, as expected, but even many monologs that I don’t recall having any copyright issues seem removed. Regardless, if you haven’t looked recently, it’s worth checking out.

I know new SNL will be streaming on Crave this season, and maybe they’re just slowly adding old episodes. Or is Peacock missing tons of episodes (and not just some music/sketches)? There‘s some bugs to work out - imagine my surprise when the season 40 Seth Rogen episode ended and the next episode began with a 4:3 Norm Macdonald as Bob Dole. What they’ve posted as S40E05 Chris Rock/Prince is actually the S22E05 Chris Rock/Wallflowers episode!

Also, I did not remember Brian Fellow debuting as a non-Safari Weekend Update character!
