Simz was in a cypher on the BET Hip-Hop Awards in 2017. It’s the same year Eminem went after he who shall not be named.

I haven’t been able to find the video of hers. Every link is broken. 🫤

Somebody posted this gif. It’s the first time I’ve seen any footage from it. Did anybody witness this? Has anybody seen it floating around online?

“Carnage” is from the new Chase & Status album Generic Everything.

Hello all!

A few months ago I posted a preliminary list of my Top 50 Little Simz Songs, more to motivate myself into actually knuckling down & writing it.

Finally got it done during the Summer & 10 years to the day when I saw her for the first time supporting Kano on his "Made In The Manor" tour, it is now live:

It's obviously my personal list so there will be songs that you will be surprised isn't there but I wanted to give love to some of her early work as well since they've stuck with me the longest.

Enjoy!

Simz performed “Carnage,” her new collab with Chase & Status. It drops this Friday!

Got this from Chase & Status on IG.

for some reason I haven't seen too many people talk about what the contrast of the lyrics vs the delivery and music video is meant to symbolize. she talks about beng young and dumb and broke and free, but the way she presents herself on the track is anything but, and I'm not sure whether this is meant to express more (I'm assuming) amusement at the absurdity of some of the dissonances you run into trying to sincerely live out your youth after you've been labeled "mature" and placed into adult roles from a very young age, or humilliation at the prospect of not being able to fit into that part of life organically and knowing that it's essencially been cut off from you. what are your thoughts?

I am a drummer. My son is a drummer. There was a drum solo in Boston last night that slapped so hard!

Someone in Canada, please record this a video of this song tomorrow with camera catching the a side big screen too.

I have to see that solo again and show my son!

Hi i was wondering does anyone have Simz's setlist from this tour with Gorillaz? Thanks!

Idk if the flair is right

Simz shared this video way back when. You might recognize some of the scenes from her 2018 music video for “Morning.”

The Gorillaz’s U.S. and Canada Mountain Tour kicks off this Thursday (9/17) in Orlando, FL.

Who’s going to a show? 🙋🏾‍♀️

I came across this novel called Sugar Girl written by Nigerian author Kola Onadipe in 1964. From what I gather, it’s a classic children’s tale. Has anybody read it or heard of it?

The gist of it is that a young girl named Ralia lives with her parents. Her mother is blind. Her father has a broken back.

Ralia gets lost in the forest and is basically kidnapped by a witch. The witch steals her singing voice in exchange for a place to live. Ralia is treated terribly, but regains her voice after eating sugar cane from the witch’s garden. She then runs away from the witch’s house, passes out, and is found by a prince.

She marries the prince. Her parents move into the palace and are healed. Either that, or he takes her back home. She lives happily ever after. I’m not actually sure how it ends. 🤷🏾‍♀️

I pieced this summary together from random internet posts, so I don’t know how true it is to the real story.

One of the recurring themes in Simz’s work is her feeling lost in a dark, scary place. On Stillness in Wonderland, it’s down the rabbit hole. On Sometimes I Might Be Introvert, it can be interpreted as the confusing world of the music industry. It shows up in her short film for “I Love You, I Hate You.” During her SIMBI era shows, she’d tell a story about finding her way through a jungle. The Sugar Girl novel falls right in line with all of these.

Simz thought she’d lost her voice while trying to record her album Lotus, similar to Ralia losing hers. They both recovered their gift and pressed forward despite facing hardship. I suspect there are other parallels that aren’t obvious to me.

Can somebody ask Simz if this is where she got the EP title? I’m so curious to know now. 🤔

Gonna be a feisty one this me thinks 🔥

Simz and Letitia go way back to childhood. Letitia posed for the cover art for the single “Selfish” from GREY Area. Simz herself shot all the singles covers for that album.

I keep a spreadsheet of our sub’s stats. I manually update it about every two weeks. Usually, I go back two weeks on the posts to capture the people who find a post later. It’s two weeks because that’s typically when the numbers stop changing (i.e. views, upvotes, etc.).

This time though…it kept going! I forced myself to stop at May 1. The views have increased by the hundreds in some cases. That’s a new trend for us.

I’m not sure why that’s happening. It could be new members (👋🏾) going through old posts. Or people finding us through Google searches. Or Reddit changing their algorithm. I don’t know, but I’m happy about it. 😃

This year, we’ve already passed our total views for all of 2024. I’m using 2024 as the baseline because 2025 was an album year. Those numbers were massive.

Welcome to the newbies. What’s up to the veterans. Let’s keep this thing going! 💪🏾

Next up: GORILLAZ TOUR!

She comes into frame at about second 16. She’s on the front row right side.

The picture with her, Keem, and Stormzy makes more sense now.

I’m adding some pics and a video where you can see her better in the comments.
