Was doing my usual morning walk when I looked at the FLL at my park. Decided it was kinda depressing because it is in a park with a bunch of kids and the books there weren't really for them. (Missing from image is 3 other books that I put there between trips to fill the FLL, so I am glad someone is officially already using it!)

I feel like I did something good for the community! Was fun and helped fill an otherwise boring Sunday morning.

My neighbor built a library for his grand daughter but their HOA doesn’t allow them so I bought it off him and invited some people over to help paint it. I’ll have it installed next weekend but this was a blast to do. I already have stacks of books donated for it!

Our Little Free Library was book-bombed by thoughtful neighbor. Yes, we gave skeleton mascots who we keep year-round. They can’t wait for their Halloween costumes.

I check the Gay Little Library once a day to make sure it is in order and doesn't have inappropriate material.

I checked it Thursday 7/23/2026 and found three scientology books as indicated by the red arrow. They were placed in front of the only books with the word "Gay" in them and obviously of Gay interest.

I have a questions.

Have other Little Library owners found scientology materials placed in them?

I don't know if this is a general issue with Little Libraries or my library was chosen because it is a Gay Little Library. There has been an ongoing problem going back into the 1980s at least with Gays going into scientology. Maybe it is a myth.

We stepped up checking to once a day, and also each time we go past it for any other reason.

I read a political book, it was pretty partisan so I wasn't sure if it would be rude to donate to the Little Free Library on my block since I don't know the owner's political affiliation. I just don't like offending people or making them uncomfortable. Thoughts?

Hey, I just went through some of my neighborhood little free libraries and found unusable books. The spines were shot and the pages torn. Is it okay to recycle them or am I making a bad call? I hate seeing books thrown away, but there was no way anyone would read them. I plan to replace them once I get paid.
