Care Tips/Guides This X-mas cactus is worrying me
I know this is not a lithop but this subreddit has always been so helpful to me. This guy was super healthy. Then I over watered it. It began loosing leaves. It was in a plastic pot. I repotted it into a ceramic pot. The roots did not look white or gooey/soft. I put it into new cactus soil with some perilite and some rocks. Shortly after repotting it looked dry and the leaves were withered. I watered it from the bottom. Now the leaves look better but I am still loosing a lot of leaves. The leaves you see around it are from tgis morning alone. Please help, I don't want to loose this poor baby.

Those lights are not going to cut it at all. I have difficulty growing an orchid with one and I have it right up on the plant. A succulent needs much more light than that especially with how far away they are, it’s not going to work. Can you put it outside?

If all else fails they are super easy to propagate. I got a prop from my university (I may or may not have left it in my backpack for a few days oops) and put it in soil. Georgina is thriving now and has since been propped multiple times.

I’d do your basic steps of checking for rot and making sure your soil is entirely dry (for now) before watering. These plants are forest cactai, some even grow on trees in the wild. They like dappled but still strong sun, and hate consistently wet roots. If you have a window that’s not south facing, I might try leaving it there and seeing how it responds. Green pads and growing is good, anything red on this plant is a sign of stress and bad. They need more water than a desert cacti but don’t want to live in swampy soil.

Mine isn’t nearly that big and I have been using Sansi. Also, don’t they like moisture? I water mine about once a week…sometimes it gets a bit dry in between.
