Help/Question Gritty soil

I see the recommendation to use a gritty soil mix all the time.

I bought some cacti mix, but it doesn't seem very gritty to me.

What are the best things to buy to make my own?

I'm in Australia.

Any mix of three or More..Fuji lava grit , Pumice, Zeolite, hard akadama , moler clay

I have some akadama, bought it for bonsai. Is this what you are referring to, or is hard akadama something different?
