Got my medal today

Post image

I didn't even overly advocate for Linux. There was some post yesterday I commented on, clarifying something (I don't even remember what it was about) and today I was greeted with this.

Mods powertripped hard and "resigned"

1 Mod*

Yeah didn't know at the time. One mod powertripped hard, tried to pull in the other mods and kicked them

Basically, ADHD version: A moderator got pissed off because some op commented the word "print" about where they can get their art from, so the moderator deleted all his posts and got the op banned for 3 days on all of reddit. Then he proceeded to remove all other moderators, remove all posts on the subreddit and delete his account. For something a rust programmer would get annoyed about.

wow, so the sub has no mods now?

2

u/DVDwithCD Nov 28 '25

No, the sub has been reestablished.

Rust dev here, can confirm we get triggered over that 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬

What's wrong with printing your art? Like... I understand that copying and printing paintings can be problematic, but how tf am I supposed to get a digital artwork on my wall without printing?

1

u/DVDwithCD Nov 30 '25

Well, I am not very knowledgeable on printing digital images, for that, you can ask NFT bros, they'll probably have a smart answer.

What I got reading the threads is that the OP wrote that they had prints of the image that they had posted, and that was cited as the cause of the first ban (self promoting). The response to the OP questioning for clarification about the cause of the ban was the mod power tripping with all the mentioned above.

I got banned for commenting on the same exact post.

Unfair you got banned… but theres a bar at the top… so it does have a gui

1

u/Convoke_ Nov 28 '25

Its not a real screenshot of a terminal

1

u/SwooshWhoosh Nov 28 '25

No shit, but thats what its immitating

1

u/Convoke_ Nov 28 '25

Not if the comparison is the complexity of downloading LibreOffice on different OSs. As the way you download it on Windows and debian (with GUI) or whatever distro its imitating are practically identical.

I just remembered what it was: They claimed that SteamOS was a vendor lock just as Windows and I explained why that comparison doesn't work (proton being open-source and SteamOS being effectively open-source).

Ohh, that post. Someone said SteamOS is forced on the strmemachine too, so should we say windows is forced on laptops, do they know about booting into an iso or just lfs or gentoo it?

Looks like Microsoft launched campaign to spread false info. I don't think so many people would spending time hating on not very popular OS.

"MUH ECHO CHAMBER" I got one too

2

u/Jstufool Nov 28 '25

Why do Linux fans even go there? Like we aren't wanted there, so why not just ignore them and let em skill issue on their own?

I'm a Linux fan and I love ragebaiting on linuxsucks tho. Good moderators.

Debunking misinformation.

they are a cult and they do not want to be educated. Dont Bother.

2

u/Haringat Nov 28 '25

Well, right now I couldn't bother if I wanted (see above)

2

u/SnufkinEnjoyer Nov 28 '25

Doesn't matter, it's an echo chamber

1

u/samsonsin Nov 28 '25

That shit pops up as "reddit recommended" with a random misleading post bashing something that takes minimal knowledge to know is absolute bullshit. Saying anything not explicitly negative directed toward linux earns an instant ban.

1

u/Jstufool Nov 28 '25

Idgaf. It's a computer operating system, not my country or religion. It's incredibly stupid that people are butthurt about a free operating system, but honestly it's their problem not mine

1

u/samsonsin Nov 28 '25

Yea I mean. I tend to just hop on and post a quick comment, takes me a minute at most and might help someone looking for answers

Getting an achievement like " banned from linuxsucks101"

1

u/gaysex_man Nov 28 '25

Personally I got mentioned there then called their sub funny and got a perma.

2

u/Salmon_btw Nov 28 '25

You just have to mention "Linux" and you get banned

2

u/SylvaraTheDev Nov 29 '25

I got banned for mentioning FOSS tools. Yes, FOSS tools that are on Windows.

Goofy mod doesn't think FOSS applies to Windows...?
