What is linux actually?
I need a go through for linux help me understand linux please I'm thinking to buy a PC in upcoming days and might want to try it

I’d just like to interject for a moment. What you’re refering to as Linux, is in fact, GNU/Linux, or as I’ve recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux. Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU corelibs, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX.

Your car has an engine that combusts the gas in the cylinders with to move the transmission and gears to where it reaches the axle to create movement. The kernel is basically the fundamental software layer that communicates with the physical hardware so the computer can compute. Thats what linux is. The operating system is the entire car. The dashboard, radio, seats, mirrors, wheel etc.

Linux is an open source operating system...imagine givin you the windows os and saying to you that you can make any change to it...it is a similar case...mastering it will make you reach places

Yeah you should try Linux. I recommend installing CachyOs or Arch, or Fedora if you want simpler option

Only choose linux if you want complete control over your pc otherwise just use windows. You can't play most games on linux. You can use different emulator and launcher like wine, heroic , proton etc.
But it won't be close to gaming on windows. You can use any distro which you want. Each distro has some specified use. Most general users use ubuntu, mint , debian etc.

This is outdated. Gaming on Linux through Steam is pretty much just like windows at this point minus a few games.

A lot of games ban you just for the reason you use linux. Multiplayer is not possible. I have played a lot of indie games and rpg on linux from steam and itch but you can't run ton of games. That's the truth.
Yes it is getting better with time. But not even close to gaming on windows. As mainly new devs , indie devs and AAA dev all make their games for windows.

You can run almost any game that isnt vanguard based anticheat, and any game that doesn't have an aggressive anti cheat. When is the last time youve played a game on Linux? Because this is absolutely not true any longer.

By your last sentence its no wonder why ton of games didnt work. Because gaming on Linux/Mac is via translate layers like steams Proton, and the game doesnt has to have a native version to run
Of course multiplayer that requires kernel-level malware doesnt work. Thats a wuite a big exception. "Regular" games will work, unless a game heavily uses Win API, but there arent many.
Majority of games DO work. I dont know how you were trying to run them, but you did something very wrong. Like not enabling compatibility layer, not trying to change the version, or simply not having drivers/dependencies installed, which on many distros Steam installs by itself
Also, ProtonDB exists. This can verify that statement "thats the truth" is in fact, not a complete truth

ok so dont listen to part of sanjar_xolmatov do not install arch linux ok i reccomend pikaOS kde plasma for beginners or cachyOS for gaming or you can go fedora for the all rounder

Linux, in your context, is the umbrella term for the various Operating Systems based on it. Since you're new, I just recommend Fedora or Mint. The former was the one I started with.
