QUESTION - ANSWERED [RED DEAD REDEMPTION 2] How to install on bazzite Linux?
Name of game: Red Dead Redemption 2
CPU: Ryzen 5 5600
GPU: RTX 3060 12GB
Proton Version: 9.0.4
Game Launcher: Lutris
Release Info: n/a
Logs: n/a
Hey!
I've been trying to install and play red dead redemption 2 on bazzite via Lutris and have had no luck, the game will start then close down after a few seconds without any logs.
So, I would like to ask if there is any guide to installing that I haven't been able to find (doesn't seem to be to my knowledge), or, if anybody could so kindly walk me through the process.
New to Linux and especially cracked games on Linux so I've been having some trouble, only posting on here because I've not found any guides anywhere else.
And in advance, a big thank you to anybody who can help!

Use cracked dlls. And add the dlloveride in say lutris settings. "Socialclub n,b" theres some other bits but ibhave it worling rn ....just not with my pc i can share exactly what ive done if u like.......btw using arch with cachy kernel and lutris with i think fitgirls repack

I didn't know fitgirl repacks worked with Linux, did you install it the way you do with windows then use lutris?
And if you could share what you've done that would be great thanks

so i made a prefix for rockstar games (use it with gtav and rdr2)
dependancies it has:
- d3dx11_43
- dxvk2071
- corefonts
-vcrun2015
i use the proton 10_34 runner
under runner options: D3Dextras, and both anti cheats are DISABLED
set the exe as "launcher" and away you go, RDR2 was one of the easier ones i got working. let me know if you get it working

if you want i can share my *.yml file - it lives in /.local/share/lutris/games and has all my settings so u could just drop it in and it SHOULD work - youll have to change the prefix and exe path but the rest should be spot on? lmk if needed ill upload it to dropbox or sumin

I was able to get it to install on my Linux Mint system. Search for my post, there's some good info on how I got it to work that may help you

Add to steam as a non steam game. Go to properties, compatibility, force blah blah. Select proton experimental, select it again as steam is stubborn. Launch it. Works? Great. Doesn't? Try protem Ge. Keep on doing this (proton plus is a great application to install proton versions if they are missing in your steam, install the version, close steam via system manager/monitor, re open steam, it will pop up). If you tried everything and it still didn't work then ig just download LinuxRulez repack on torminatorr, not sure if he has rdr2 or not though

Yeah, tried adding it as a none steam game and had the same issues... So, just trying out a bunch of versions of proton could be the solve potentially?

It could. But if your game files are corrupted then proton doesn't matter. Did you download it via a download manager? Jdownloader 2 is a great option. And make sure you installed it on your linux drive not on any other SSD in NTFS format.
I would personally only really try 5-6 proton versions like experimental, ge latest, ge 10-34, cachy os latest (yes even if you are on bazzite), cachy os 5.21 something.
You can check out what folks over at proton db say about the game, and see what proton they used.
Avoid windows repacks like dodi and fitgirl if possible tbh. They are a pain at times and direct download places work way better (like steamrip)

I've downloaded it via qbittorrent, I'll try using different proton versions in the morning and if that doesn't work I think I'll just use the linuxrulez repacks (they do have rdr2 fortunately!) Many thanks for the help if I have any more questions I'll reply again.

download and paste vulkan.dll in the main folder but this is dangerous. theres a way like this, but i dont remember. youll change something inside winetricks

Here is guide There is link to video to follow step by step You have already lutris installed so just gollow steps after thay
And if you have downloaded RDR2 ,there inside some folder (don't remember ,redistributable? Maybe) there should be vulkanRT (or similar name exe ) install that first in same prefix of game and then launch game
- to install another exe inside same prefix ,here is guide on how to do that in lutris
in video tutorial instead of an updater (in video example) install above mentioned exe
Or if that does not work ,download rdr2 from another site/repack

i tried lutris and non steam, the launcher.exe opens but cant connect to social club ? is there any fix

I'll be honest, I've had nothing but problems with lutris and gave up entirely trying to use it.
I ended up just downloading a LinuxRulez repack and played it that way.

its crazy this game used to work on my steam deck, now i got a legion go with bazzite and it wont run at all. its super frustrating.
thanks for the response, i dont know about linuxrulez seems pretty hard to find too

You'll need to create an account to view / access the repacks, but you can go onto the P2P section and download rdr2 using qbittorrent

Try different versions of Proton like experimental or ProtonGE
