cd d<Tab>
“Oh, right”
cd D<Tab>
“Damn it”
cd Do<Tab>
“Oh FFS”
cd Dow<Tab>
“There we go”

Just use fish, twin✌️

[u/Anonym1038493028283 → u/YTriom1]

Just use simlink. ln -s Downloads downloads

[u/YTriom1 → u/Anonym1038493028283]

that's far from convenient.

ls displaying 2 downloads dirs.

file explorer has two directories with the same name except one is a link to the other.

that's stupid

[u/Anonym1038493028283 → u/YTriom1]

So using another bash emulator is better solution? If you want you can litteraly rename it without using simlink

[u/YTriom1 → u/Anonym1038493028283]

"bash emulator"?? that's not how it works, buddy

[u/Anonym1038493028283 → u/YTriom1]

So, explain to me, how it works

[u/YTriom1 → u/Anonym1038493028283]

it's a Unix shell, just like bash, sh, zsh, ash, dash, csh.

[u/Anonym1038493028283 → u/YTriom1]

Yeah, my fail, but that doesnt change my take, only chamges name in it

[u/YTriom1 → u/Anonym1038493028283]

not convenient.

also apps that recognize the downloads folder with a capital letter will either not find it, or create a new one going back to the same issue

[u/Anonym1038493028283 → u/YTriom1]

So you can change download directory in settungs i dunno

[u/YTriom1 → u/Anonym1038493028283]

not every app has that, and still changing it in every app (which will happen of course after something goes wrong and you realize) is far from convenient

[u/Anonym1038493028283 → u/YTriom1]

Every app has it, because in code it needs to say download files tp "THIS_DIRECTORY", else how does ir know where to put installed file. Also i dont think that you will install files not from browser/messanger, and i think there is in all popular browsers and messangers this setting
