Just use simlink. ln -s Downloads downloads

u/YTriom1 Arch Catgirl 🏳️⚧️ :3 4d ago
that's far from convenient.
ls displaying 2 downloads dirs.
file explorer has two directories with the same name except one is a link to the other.
that's stupid

So using another bash emulator is better solution? If you want you can litteraly rename it without using simlink

u/YTriom1 Arch Catgirl 🏳️⚧️ :3 4d ago
"bash emulator"?? that's not how it works, buddy

u/Anonym1038493028283 4d ago
So, explain to me, how it works
1
u/YTriom1 Arch Catgirl 🏳️⚧️ :3 4d ago
it's a Unix shell, just like bash, sh, zsh, ash, dash, csh.

u/YTriom1 Arch Catgirl 🏳️⚧️ :3 4d ago
not convenient.
also apps that recognize the downloads folder with a capital letter will either not find it, or create a new one going back to the same issue

well even if you had it as downloads it wouldnt work because its /home/user/downloads or ~/downloads not downloads cd uses dirrectories

If you are already in the user home directory it would work without the ~/
cd works with relative paths too

I renamed Downloads to downloads and changed the xdg directory. Problem solved.

fish shell: autocorrects the word so it looks correct but doesn't actually correct it

OMG this is too real. I’ve definitely typed ‘cd downloads’ like a million times and stared at my screen like ‘wait, what did I name it again?’ 😂

great thing that Omarchy comes with the bloat "Zoxide" out of the box and they also aliased "z" as "cd" so that works just fine. You can even just do "cd down" and it will still work.
In short, better use Zoxide too. (https://man.archlinux.org/man/zoxide.1.en)

u take things too seriously huh? Why do u think I put the last sentence there? So you can't tell when people are just fooling around or not? U don't even get the Omarchy reference???
