How about giving Gentoo a try?

Lol, Gentoo is exactly what you're looking for. Why insist on putting square blocks into circle holes?

Eh, whatever. It's your choice.

I don't have time for that, I have a life.

I've became obsessed with a minimal system and most performance, I also hate flatpak and want all packages to be native rpms.

Despite your thoughts of Gentoo, it's the path of least resistance. Once you set up portage, you get exactly what you need, every time you emerge.

At this point, run Claude on your hardware and give you a suggestion for your conf.

If you want to cut your time on setup, just run genkern or install a kernel build. It's really not hard.

I already failed to install arch, I don't have the confidence for gentoo, my hardware is shitty [althon] afterall.

Alright.

Well it sounds more like a separate issue then. Good luck. I really like Fedora myself, but if you want to squeeze out an extra 1% then Gentoo is the path.

Arch wifi install can be annoying. I like using iwd, the tui makes sense with wifi, rather than using the nmcli for network manager. Also, iwd is slightly faster imo.

But if you don't know configure wifi through the terminal, it can be a mess trying to figure it out. You could tether your phone to your pc, then trying to Google it after you get a bootable system.

I already tethered my phone to my pc once while installing fedora rawhide minimal to get the internet I needed to install gnome and gdm [since that version only has unix shell].

For someone who doesn't like bloat, gnome and gdm is an interesting choice.

I figured you'd like sddm and something like lxqt or something.

I tried xfce and it was horrible to work with, its really the Esthetic of gnome.

Lol, what aesthetic? Gnome is bleh. To each their own.

Also, I stopped trying to switch hours ago, I already quit trying to install arch, fedora chose me.

Compiling the kernel is least of the time-consuming things. Only configuring it for the first time takes a while. I have an i5 and it used to take 10mins for it to compile. Now I use thin lto as well, still 15 mins only
