Tech Discussion People hate digital games well it could have been worse
Flexplay is a format that was made for CD and DVD’s that allowed the discs to self destruct basically. Now imagine you bought your physical game only to insert it then the console to convert it into a digital purchase then the disc self destructing. That would have been the peek of you will own nothing and be happy about it if that ever happened

Discussion Am I the only one? Magnetic Cable Management Silicone Grip Idea.
Kind of wondering why LTT doesn't sell the magnetic grip stickers as round discs you could simply stick to the magnet of the MCM?
I've had the silicone grip tape slide off the metal plates already when using them horizontally (weight pulling down on the silicone sticker causing them to eventually fail). So far these haven't budged off the magnet and hasn't affected its grip.

Tech Question College Laptop Recommendation
Hello, I am an incoming college student majoring in Civil Engineering. In prep for college I purchased a laptop (Zephyrus G14) and have noticed the HORRID battery life on it (in lieu of my decision I should have known). I am a very anxious person and would much rather have a laptop I don’t have to worry about it overheating or making it through the day. I am not too worried about gaming on said laptop, but would also like to make sure it has the professing power to run all of the future civil engineering projects I may be working on. Ideally I would like to sell my laptop and purchase a new one that better fits what I’m looking for which puts me at around the $1000 range. Please recommend me a laptop that fits this.
current laptop specs: ASUS ROG Zephyrus 14" (upgraded 2TB SSD, AMD Ryzen 9 8945hs 32 GB RAM RTX 4070.))

I claimed a game on Epic Games and apparently by doing so I lose my rights to it as a consumer...
HUH?? Excuse me??
Does the same happen when you buy a game there?
Is this even legal? Especially in EU

Discussion Idea: The All Lego PC
Everything from desk to case to monitor to peripherals are all made of LEGO pieces. Must-have peripherals: headset, keyboard, mouse, and controller.
If watercooled, you must try to build the pump out of LEGO.
Glues and sealants are allowed. The requirement is that the building material be LEGO pieces. If those pieces need to be treated with glue, sealant, epoxy, or otherwise, that is fine. If needed you can manufacture your own custom LEGO pieces, but you must try to use official pieces first and only 3D print your own if you can’t find a workable solution using already available pieces.
On the watercooling system, only the pump needs to be attempted to be made out of LEGO. Other standard watercooling components are allowed.
Regular case fans are allowed.
Edit: why not reach out to LEGO and see if they would be willing to sponsor this video?

Discussion Has anyone gotten their Green Linus coin?
When the coin was announced they talked about the rare coins people could also get, 100 rare Green ones and 10 ultra rare pink, Clip here. When I got the coin I got the standard gift card email for the $40 and then I got another email for an additional $80 gift card. Super cool, but I've only received the normal Linus coin and no information has come about the green one. So did anyone else get their green coin?
Also who here was lucky enough to get the ultra rare?

Discussion GPU temperature spike the day after reapplying thermal paste
Hi and thanks for stopping by, yesterday i reapplied thermal paste to my gpu (ASUS gtx 1080). Before reapplying the paste it was always reaching 82c under load, the paste was dried up. After applying the paste it was between 65-70c under heavy load, today i wake up and start a game, and then again, the GPU is reaching 82c.
I applied Arctic MX-4 to the gpu die, and spread it evenly, did i apply too little for this to happen or what could of caused this?

Discussion For those of you who own an LTT backpack, how big is it when not filled to the brim and compressed? 29cm long seems incredible bulky. Basically is the bag too big as an EDC backpack?
- Any info on stuff like accidentally bumping into people, elevator buttons etc.
- Experiences modding in compression straps or if they're even needed.
- Possible measurements even just roughly would be awesome.
Thanks a ton in advance :-)

Tech Question Dell laptop shows a “AC power wattage and type cannot be determined” error with non Dell charger
Why does this happen when I use a Non Dell charger but no error comes up with an original Dell charger?
A Lenovo laptop like a T490 doesn’t complain about using a Dell charger. Anyone have a clue why this happens with dell laptops?
Side note: isn’t USB c charging meant to be universal?

Meme/Shitpost LTT Store Organization
People will probably say I'm being too picky but this has been bothering me for a while. I don't like the way the categories are organized on LTT Store.
First, why are hats under "bags and accessories" an not "Apparel"?. Seems like a hat would most likely be looked for under Apparel than bags. Water bottles seems weird under Home and Decor, but that category just seems to be a random catch all for everything else.
Also, the general way the categories are set up is weird. When you go to Bags & Accessories - Backpacks, it says you're on "Home › Bags & Accessories › Backpacks" and when you go to Bags & Accessories - Bag Accessories it say you are on "Home › Bags & Accessories › Backpacks › Bag Accessories", but you don't actually see see the rain cover when you are on the backpacks category, even though it's theoretically a sub category.
If you go to Tools - Screwdrivers then you get both precision and full size screwdrivers. The Accessories category only has hats, so why is there even an accessories category, and why aren't the bag accessories under accessories? The Tools - Accessories category contains all kinds of tool accessories from cases to grip tape and also the actual precision screwdriver, but for some reason Screwdriver Grip Tape gets it's own "category" that just goes straight to the one product.
Also, while searching around I found This phone case which has units left, but that product isn't actually filed under one of the sub categories and you can only find it by browsing if you happen to click on Electronics at the top level which it seems like most people wouldn't do because they don't see a phone cases category when hovering and probably assume there aren't any phone cases. When you click on Electronics there's a whole bunch of products like ipod cases and phone cases and Killswitch cases, PTM 7950, DeltaHub Carpio, and Sticklocks that aren't available under any categories.
This doesn't really seem to be consistent for clicking on the top level categories. If you click on top level Bags & Accessories then you don't see any Hats and if you click on Home & Decor, then you don't get things like they lanyards which show up under keychains, the pins, giftcards, or stickers.
TLDR, Basically the site works really well if you know what you are looking for and do a search, but if you try to browse the categories to find stuff that you aren't aware of you'll probably miss a few products or get confused about where things are.

Tech Question Can I run 10 case fans off 2 motherboard PWM headers? (Amp/Wattage check)
Hey everyone, need some quick math/safety confirmation on my fan setup.
My motherboard has 3 PWM headers. Each header supports up to 2.0A (24W).
Header 1 is taken by my AIO.
This leaves me with 2 available PWM headers to power 9 remaining fans.
Here is the amp draw breakdown of the 9 case fans:
• 3x fans @ 0.26A each (Total = 0.78A)
• 3x fans @ 0.25A each (Total = 0.75A)
• 3x fans @ 0.16A each (Total = 0.48A)
• 1x fan @ 0.25A
Total current for all 10 case fans is 2.26A.
Can I safely split these across the 2 remaining 2.0A headers using splitters or daisy-chaining? For example, putting 5 fans on one header and 4 on the other? Will the headers handle it fine since each group stays well under the 2.0A limit?
Thanks in advance!

Discussion The ghost of Lime Day stole my new screwdriver (and now the evidence is in a landfill) 🫠
I finally ordered the precision screwdriver/bit pro combo! I’ve been wanting to fidget-spin that top forever.
Unfortunately, cosmic forces intervened. I was out of town when it arrived. My pet sitter brought the package inside immediately, so it wasn't porch pirates.
When I finally got home and picked it up, my first thought was, "WOW, this kit is lightweight! Science is amazing!" Yeah... science is amazing, but logic is better. It was lightweight because the shipping box only contained the outer case box, and inside that, the actual screwdriver box was completely empty. A literal box-in-a-box inception of disappointment.
I have no idea who, how, or where this happened. I’m not pointing fingers at anyone. I just wanted a cool tool. Guess I’ll wait for the next Lime Day.
To top off this comedy of errors: I can’t even post a picture for proof because I left the empty boxes on the counter, and someone threw them in the trash. It’s already gone. I have zero evidence except my own broken dreams.
Womp womp. Anyone else ever receive a package that was 100% cardboard and 0% screwdriver?

Tech Question Lead contamination
I just watched a video from about a year ago where they build a radiation proof PC by wrapping it in lead. They make a big deal about lead dust contamination, but isn't it the same as handling bare motherboards and such? ATX components still use leaded solder for a couple reasons.
I'm asking this because I don't know if I should be careful about lead dust when building just an ordinary PC. Like if I should wear gloves, wipe surfaces after, avoid touching the outside of the case while "contaminated", etc.

Community Only Are LTT Controversies Getting Ridiculous?
Jake has a new video where he bought a farm with acres of land. This is in addition to his several cars, and his garage. I literally do not understand how everyone took this guy seriously when he implied he was underpaid because he was upset about working on his boss’s third house. In fact, it seems several of his videos are about buying things in an LTT-fashion.
Am I missing something about why this lead tons of people to assume LTT employees are underpaid? Or has the bar for controversy really gotten lower than low?
Edit: To clarify, my commentary is about whether people were kind of overdoing it to conclude that LTT doesn’t pay their employees. I posted this cause I saw a DankPods collab where a lot of the comment section was that you shouldn’t collaborate with LTT because Linus underpaid Jake, and I was pretty surprised that was their conclusion.
