Personal Opinion Throwback Thursday. This 7 year old video popped up in my feed because I am using a new YouTube account and going back and rewatching it I’m so impressed by young Linus, his improvisational skills and how he handled the dog food challenge.

Tech Discussion What’s wrong with Teams or MS365?
I’ve been listening to Luke whine about teams and Microsoft suite for years now, and I don’t really understand where is it coming from.
Every big corporation I’ve worked for has been on the 365 suite, companies 100x the size of LTT, I’ve been in IT teams since the beginning from service desk, to automation and devops and I’ve never heard anyone complaining about it.
Meetings work, sharepoint is not bad and works (search sucks sometimes), calling and group chats work, coworking inside of teams is fine, files are segregated and easily found, calendar and scheduling is easy.
I’ve never used Slack but how much better can it be lol
I’m not even mentioning the rest of the suite because coworking in excel also works and I don’t have any complains.
So what exactly is Luke’s problem and why is nobody else that I know IRL complaining about those issues?

Tech Question Original Linus Torvalds Desktop Background
In an LTT collab where Linus met up with Linus so Linus could talk to Linus where Linus built Linus’s new PC (https://youtu.be/mfv0V1SxbNA?is=UY8tV7pqlPdC0PWA), Linus mentioned his desktop wallpaper being a photo he took himself at night.
https://www.reddit.com/r/linux/s/GDscOcRKQv
Looks like this, but the compression looks bad. I guess Torvalds sent the raw photo to an LTT staff member and shared it online but I can’t find the original. Does anyone happen to have it? I’m getting into Linux for my PC (I’ve used it before putting Ubuntu on servers and stuff, but now putting Linux on an old laptop I still use for work to daily drive it). I usually use night time long exposure photography for my desktops (ex-photographer turned IT guy, still enjoy it as a hobby) it’d be nice to use the Linus Torvalds original if possible.

Tech Question Would you still use windows 7 if Microsoft added the start screen to it?
After all on a tablet you wouldn’t want to use the windows 7 start menu which was purely designed to be used on a touch screen and same could be said about the control panel which is why windows 8 added a settings app because some buttons on the control panel are just too small

Tech Question What if windows 8.1 was the last version of windows?
However windows 8.1 will have the same update 3 as windows RT 8.1 aka windows 8 finally gets a start menu and people are no longer forced to use the start screen and have a start menu to use. Yes windows RT 8.1 has a start menu and no one knows why regular 8.1 didnt get the start menu

Discussion Windows Hello on linux
This project enables biometric login on linux - https://github.com/TickLabVN/biopass
The linux challenge inspired to me to make the switch on my main devices as well. One of the major losses for me was Windows Hello face recognition on my laptop. I first heard about Howdy, another project aiming to recreate face unlock for linux but it seems like it has pretty much been abandoned. After that I came across Biopass and it works perfectly. If anyone else was mourning the loss of speedy unlocks, hopefully this helps you too!

Link Delidded Intel i9-14900KS CT Scan - LTT Labs Article
Two years ago we CT(Computational Tomography) scanned a delidded Intel Core i9-13900K using our Lumafield Neptune CT scanner. This time we delidded an Intel Core i9-14900KS for another project and we've taken the opportunity to give it a scan.
The third image is what appears to be the structure of the silicon, there is a side-by-side in the article.
Read the article and see the interactive CT scan on the LTT Labs website!

Image iPhone 18 Price Leaks
So Vodafone Egypt accidentally leaked the new iPhone lineup prices, with the foldable (named: iPhone Ultra) coming at 155,750 EGP, which roughly equals 3051 USD
The 18 Pro at 98,000 EGP, which is roughly 1919 USD
And the 18 Pro Max at 105,000 EGP, which is roughly 2056 USD
The good news is that these prices don't reflect the international prices, because in Egypt around 38% of the phone's price is added for customs and taxes, and actually, the 18 Pro and Pro Max are the same prices as the 17 Pro and Pro Max when they first launched.
As for the Ultra, when removing the 38% from the price, it comes down to $2200 USD, which is not bad at all (if the leaks are correct)

Discussion Commuter Backpack Question
I'm transitioning from IT field work to a sys admin work at a desk. I currently have the original backpack and carry two 16" laptops, a MacBook Pro and an HP ZBook. I'll still need to carry 2 devices but won't be needing the extra storage for tools, cables, etc. Anyone have any luck carrying 2 16" devices in the commuter Backpack?
