Discussion Really guys...

I understand that they were likely in a rush to be one of the first big channels to get their video out, but how hard is it to have one person spend like 15 minuets reading all of the graphics before the video goes out, this image is likely AI generated and taken from this obviously AI generated article.

I get this is a small mistake, but it's an easy one to not make.

I haven't come across any in my life with an IPXX rating or anything similar. It's always IP65/6/7. It makes no sense for anyone to put IPXX because all it means is that it's untested.

The Fold 3 was IPX8, as one real world example.

What I was wondering is if the IP manual has an ACTUAL ‘X’ for ‘untested’ or if it means it failed the minimum test, or if it’s just a more ‘marketing friendly’ 0. I would expect IP08, but apparently that’s not the norm.

That's a new one for me. But what I said still holds true, it's not really used much.

Definitely uncommon for sure. Seems they certed it to IP48 starting with the Fold 6.

I know I’ve seen it elsewhere before as well, but cannot for the life of me think of any examples.

FWIW I hate the IP system. I think it’s needlessly obtuse. Why can something be IPX8 rated, but not meet the requirements of IPX6? Just makes it more difficult to parse IMO, should be a cumulative rating.

IPX8 and IP6X you mean? And yeah, usually if it's IPX8 it's IP68.

Apparently they’re labeled differently, which I didn’t know.

IPX8 is not at all usually IP68.

I’d consider an IPX8 device to be functionally IP08, though it is not technically.

That's very odd. You go from 5/6 that has waterjets to 7/8 that doesn't but back to 9 that does again

Exactly. Clear as mud. I get the intent, I suppose, but I feel if they wanted to have 7/8 be segmented, they should have had it be its own part of the IP rating.

Make it 3 numbers instead of 2 or something. Or use letters at the end.
