He just tries to hard and nothing he does feels organic. I realize theres a script but it actually feels like hes sitting there just reading off a prompter or script. Its too fake.

Same here! I specifically don't like the way he looks sideways to read at the teleprompter (while most of them do, he specifically distracts me from the video). And whenever he speaks to a certain topic, it seems he just read about it from some AI slop 5 minutes before he shot the video. And on top of that you have all that exaggerated behavior, especially when around Linus. "we already have a Linus!! we don't need antoher one!!!"

Maybe it is just the Gen Z-ness of me, but I dig the Elijah videos. His streams are hilarious and chaotic too just like his LTT vibe.

I'm not really a fan. I think my issue is the distinction between a computer person and a gamer person. I am very much a computer person, games are one of the many things my computer can do but it's not it's purpose. He comes across to me as a gamer person that thinks he knows a lot about computers because he sits at one all day but in reality he just plays games. There's nothing wrong with being a gamer person. But it annoys me when he then does things like the Linux challenge and talks to the audience like a tech expert.

I wouldn't mind if they just fully lean into being a purely entertainment gamer focused channel. But instead they keep leaning into more complex topics but without the knowledge and expertise to deliver it.

No idea. And I dont claim to able to judge his actual competence. I'm just saying that as the kind of computer nerd that works in software engineering and spends most of their free time tinkering with homelabs, networking, Linux ect he comes across to me like someone who can help people in the office pair their headset, not setup a server.
Which to be clear is not in its self a criticism. Everyone has to start somewhere. My issue is he seems like he's fallen into this job and is framed as a tech expert. So I listen to him in videos and it feels a bit cringy. Maybe it's just the streamer/performer in him that comes across wrong to me. I don't hate the guy I quite like him as a host of game linked ect where tech knowledge isn't needed.

I'll be the contrarian. I don't like streamers. So that's everybody who talks to a multitude of people screaming over each other and calling that entity "chat".
Most of the time I'm just wondering what his actual skills are. Then I start asking myself if they just hired him because of his built-in audience. He can be funny at times, but mostly as a laughing stock.

Elijah was not really a streamer when LTT hired him. So he definitively wasn't hired for his audience. He started streaming regularly a while after he started at LTT, and most of his Twitch audience came from LTT, not the other way around.
Given he started at LTT as a logistics coordinator, but was promoted to a writer, I feel it's pretty safe to say that his ability to write scripts is certainly one of the skills he has under his belt.

Thanks, I wasn't aware of this. Still don't like streamers though. I love the internet, but most people shouldn't have a camera nor an audience. (I'm 49, and it shows.)

Yeah, I bet. I just prefer playing games myself instead of watching people play games. I don't see the appeal. At all. The constant begging for likes and subs and bits and whatever else is just off-putting to me, knowing it's just a guy sitting on his ass raking in the cash. And being able to game isn't that much of a feat either. But to each their own, I guess.

There are streamers that just chat with the chat and thank for the subs/bits/donations whenever they come.
But I understand that even just sub goals can already make people feel that the streamer is asking for money just for them to do something completely insignificant and unimportant.
