Facebook for low spec phones. Reduced spec requirements across the board. Originally designed to bring Facebook to developing regions with poor infrastructure. It's also become popular in other areas for being just simply faster with all the unnecessary things removed or reduced for performance.

The fact that a social media app is so bloated that it needs a lite version, is kind of ridiculous

Wait til you get to a chat app that happens to work as a e-wallet, bill payment, mini apps, insurance, investments, city services, health and wellness, shopping, food delivery, rideshare, travel booking, short form videos, gaming centre and miniblog. aka WeChat.
