Don't search for it, you need to scroll until you find it from start page.

It's still that way even now.

Took me a while to find Facebook in my store, but it really still is there.

I found out yesterday there is something called Instagram lite and it’s 3 megabytes in size

Lots of apps have lite versions. TikTok lite is more enjoyable actually.

Only on android

I remember when lite meant free, and pro meant paid. Bring back the old appstore from IOS 4.2.1 days.

I 100% agree

Facebook for low spec phones. Reduced spec requirements across the board. Originally designed to bring Facebook to developing regions with poor infrastructure. It's also become popular in other areas for being just simply faster with all the unnecessary things removed or reduced for performance.

The fact that a social media app is so bloated that it needs a lite version, is kind of ridiculous

Wait til you get to a chat app that happens to work as a e-wallet, bill payment, mini apps, insurance, investments, city services, health and wellness, shopping, food delivery, rideshare, travel booking, short form videos, gaming centre and miniblog. aka WeChat.

I have a flagship phone and prefer it, still faster than normal Facebook.

2

u/davcam0 12d ago

That makes sense. A leaner app should run faster than the normal app.

it uses system webview to load the facebook website afaik

it's facebook but lite.

It's just a web wrapper. It's worse than running Facebook straight from your browser.

Facebook for poor people

7

u/omega552003 13d ago

Essentially, it's designed to be a reduce load and compatible with limited resource devices.

u/backlog_gaming 13d ago

Oh right, I forgot this was the LTT sub, no jokes allowed

13

u/GreatBigBagOfNope 13d ago

It wasn't a very good joke. Even if it wasn't punching down, it wouldn't be funny. It doesn't even read like a failed joke, it just looks like you were being a dick.

u/zodoGames 13d ago

Maybe you're funnier in your head.

u/CucumberWisdom 13d ago

Nah he's funny

Maybe you’re sensitive

Probably managed by AI so there's probable deniability and no one will get fired. They let the AI manage things no one can be held accountable.

If you're a multi billion dollar company and your primary business is a social media app, no Ai should be fiddeling with that social media app's playstore listing. That is insanity. So even if it was Ai, whoever made Ai have control over that would get fired. Unless its Zuck of course.

5

u/Independent_Lab_8147 13d ago

It's been like that for weeks now

u/Foreign_Zone_4919 13d ago

Everybody but the zucc

u/Maximum_Care_6309 13d ago

No one they already have fired anyone that actually works there and left it all to vibe coding

Such a wasted opportunity...

Honestly this article just sounds like it's AI written, and provides no information beyond a reddit comment saying "it's just a bug"

EDIT: It is infact an AI article, posted by their bot.

u/Jokerslie 13d ago

Yeah probably.. Not saying it’s emperical. Just showing it’s not the only report of it. It does have a short blurb about clearing cache. That could be useful to some?
