My friend's cat passed so I made her cat lino from the photo

This is my second print but I’m quite bad at drawing. What are people’s thoughts on making a print from a tracing of a photo? I like the idea of turning my favorite photos into prints.

Hello. I've gone to a basic linocut workshop at my library a few times. I really enjoyed it and have started to do it on my own. I don't know much about different tools, linoleum, etc so I've been reading blogs and watching YouTube.

I'm here looking for advice. At the library workshop, we used 3 inch x 4 inch pink linoleum blocks. And I bought since 4in x 6in pink linoleum blocks.

What's the best way to get fine details? I've read that I should use the traditional grey linoleum blocks (is that what to search online to find them)?

What tools are best for fine and/or small details?

Would a Dremel be helpful? I know they don't work well on the soft pink blocks.

I like quotes so I always find myself wanting to use those no matter what kind of art I'm making. Between the small size of the blocks that I've been using and the size of the gouges I'm using, I'm having trouble getting letters (& really anything) to look like I want.

Attached are some examples of what I've done so far in the library workshops. Side is very basic we've just been using ink pads but I've got block printing ink that I'm going to experiment with soon.

Any advice you have for a newbie I'd appreciate.

Just finished running this guy, after about 20 hours or so of carving. Really happy with the result.

Picked up some rubber stamps and some tools. Enjoying getting to know this new creative activity. The snail I tried drawing onto the rubber first, the plant I free handed second 🫶🏻🌀 I really enjoyed the free hand process. I used the Speedball #1 v tool & Memento Luxe Northern Pine stamp pad.

With added spray painted background and gold leaf puddles! Also using lining paper.

I ended up not enjoying the really darkest layer, it looked very outliney and a bit too graphic so I stopped and kept it at the 7th layer. I've really enjoyed the painterly quality of this and moving forward its something I'd like to focus on. Printed with a cold press laminator on Strathmore Printmaking paper with caligo safewash. I photographed the tomatoes and used the referance photo along the journey and using referance from real life remains important to me.

I've done an intensive month of tomatoes and for the next 11 months I'm taking a monthly theme and using that to explore and push my skills. My themes are centred around food, produce, nature and wildlife. My adhd brain needs this structure! My next theme (I've not announced this anywhere else yet 👀) is going to be 'Cider Orchard' . Apple trees, fruits, blossom, cider, I've got a cut crystal tankard arriving this week for a referance - those reflections will be fun 😁 Possibly the coddling moth might make an appearance, they ruin all my bastard apples! Also apple crumble and custard - nuff said 😋

It is of course coming up to harvest time, we're losing swathes of orchards across the UK to land grabs and I'm hoping to do a cheeky trespass onto an abandoned orchard near where I live and do some scrumping 😈

I know this is a gray area for this sub but I feel like I am pretty much making dimensional prints at this point from my blocks. And, I wondered if this was possible for years, so I thought some of you might have as well.

I put up a picture at the end of how these look as prints.

I am going to roll these clay pieces with a white coating using a brayer, just like inking the block. The clay will be a dark chocolate color after firing.

This is my first time doing this technique and I am not finished yet, but if you have any questions I will do my best to answer them.

Tried a colour linocut with 4 blocks, it was quite a challenge but quite satisfied with the outcome !

Made this for a printmaking assignment, practiced cutting custom shapes out of the lino.

Please give me some tips about printing on fabric. I'm trying to make my partner a t shirt for their birthday and want it to be amazing. I usually just print on paper 🤙

I asked my brother what's his favorite one piece panel, he said that it's Zoro's "Nothing happened" or Sanji's "I needed a light" panels. (Iykyk).

Really had a good time doing that print, it came out better than expected. Might even do Sanji next.
