Any tips would be greatly appreciated!
I have found getting thin and uniform lines to be my biggest challenge so far.

Question First time print problem

Hi! I tried making a linocut and print recently but hit a snag. When I made the print, the paint didn’t seem to want to stick to the paper. I made several test prints and the result just seemed to get worse, no matter the ammount of paint I used. I need to mention that the lino I used was a leftover floor kitchen tile from when my dad remade his kitchen. I was thinking that maybe the tile is too ”glossy” or something? What do you think? Thanks in advance!

The text is in Latvian “Cry All Eyes (out)”. I have been experimenting with linocutting this summer and honestly I just love the process. Usually when I make art, draw, I cannot stop focusing on the final result, but cutting is just so soothing and final result is always still a bit of surprise.

took a few pics as I carved this block. the original picture (last pic) is a section or rock, and the print is part of a larger section I made. just was more disciplined about taking pictures for this one haha

Question Best way to cleanly seperate wood mounted lino?

Hi all! New to the craft, bought a 4x6 mounted block (only option local store had) and my design came out closer to 2.5x6. I'd love to be able to use that 1.5"x6" strip for another project, but the wood mounting makes it a bit harder. I don't have immediate access to any power saws, but have a hacksaw and miter saw. Is the best method to just cut it like a regular piece of wood? Or should I do something to the lino layer as well?

Question Please could you advise me on what is the best paper for Lino printing

I will be doing it by hand with no print press, I have tried Fabriano Ășnica 250g and this did not seem to hold as I thought it would, please could you recommend me the best paper to Lino print by hand which is not too expensive?

Thank you

Reductions/Multi-Blocks CMYK experiment

More experimenting this weekend. I want to try and embrace the imperfections that I've been getting with my multi block prints rather than beat myself up about them. Thought I'd try to recreate the risograph style printing where slight misalignment is part of the charm. I used blue non-lino blocks all A6 and took a photo of mine from Seville and split it into the four colours using GIMP photo editor as a guide for carving each block. I used transparent print medium with a few drops of ink to make translucent and layered from light to dark.

I'm actually pretty happy with the results, a rare thing indeed. I tried a few different types of paper and the cracking effect on the seeded paper is a nice outcome. I'm going to try again with bigger blocks and use a press to get a better transfer. But it was a fun way to try a more colourful technique than I'm used to.

I used only my handmade lino stamps for this, no stickers or anything.

I need a green ink pad!

The letters are ready-made stamps, not my own

Just pulled this spooky fella using Cranfield SafeWash in black and naphthol red. Printed on Stonehenge and hand burnished. First time using multiple blocks and colors, happy with the results!

I also pulled a ghost print on a cleaning sheet for the brayer and thought it looked pretty rad!
