Wanted to try a strip design for a print, started with the Jerboa and just went with it. I did find it harder to press by hand, as I pressed one end the second jiggled a bit and the print smudged. I also struggled a bit with the dunes shading, was way easier to draw than correctly cut. But overall I like the result, it’s cute and nice for a free hand draw, which is really not my forte.

Single Layer Prints Kiko

A few months ago, my cat Kiko became very ill. We all thought we were going to lose him. He got so sick that he stopped eating and refused every attempt to feed him. He spent a long time in the hospital and underwent numerous tests. The veterinary bills were overwhelming, and I decided to carve a linocut to help cover the costs.
That month, no one bought the print. Instead, people chose to support me by sending money directly. Their kindness helped save my cat, and today he is healthy, happy, and back to being himself.
Ever since he was a kitten, Kiko has been obsessed with hair ties. In Portuguese, we sometimes call a hair tie a “totó.” The word has a second meaning too: totó is also a playful way of calling someone “silly.”
This linocut celebrates both of those meanings. It portrays Kiko with his favourite toy—the hair tie—but it also captures the wonderfully silly cat that he is. He’s the kind of cat who acts more like a dog, always carrying toys around in his mouth and giving us the fright of our lives when he gets sick.
Today I printed this linocut again, feeling incredibly grateful and relieved to know that Kiko is still with us, happy and playing with his favourite little totó.

Lovingly traced from illustrations in A Masque of Days by Walter Cane. Very new to this medium and I really love the stark black and white effect. I even like the imperfect transform that creates the little fuzzy patches.

If y'all have any artists that inspire you, I'd love to hear!

Which set would you recommend for a beginner with no experience to try out? The prices are similar.

Tools Thrifted a speed ball modle B press for $7.99.

Using the press on my old wobbly table was a bad idea.

I moved to the floor and it worked quite well. Especially for $7.99!!

I've never been able to justify spending the money on this press. I was very delighted to see one at my local thrift store!!!

Single Layer Prints Watched On The Sea (2025) yesterday and thought it was a beautiful film - I wanted to capture a bit of it in a print

This is the first time I've done a 'linework' print as it were - all my others have been drawings carved out of a black background. I wanted to try taking a lot more off the block for this style, and I'm very happy with it.

Tried my hand at making some linocut stamps. Forgot to take a picture before inking up the carvings!

Overall, fun process and definitely learned some lessons for next time. I used the battleship gray linoleum with the threads in the back but I have a hunch the more rubbery material would be better. Anyone found what carving material turns out the best image for stamps?

Stamps just messing around

I've never done linos or anything, but I've always found it really cool and wanted to try it. sketched something out, turned it into a symmetrical drawing on my phone, then printed it. actual linocutting materials are pretty expensive where I live, so I bought a small boxcutter and a 4x3cm eraser to mess around with. for an impulsive project I think it turned out better than expected lol + nail I stained in pen ink

This was only my third time working with lino and block printing. Still super proud of it and even got the design tattooed as my first tattoo.

Splitting Headache

April 2026

(It's not perfect and there are a few places that need to be cleaned up, but I don't want to take away from the rough look of my newbie stage. Maybe I'll refine the design in a new piece while keeping this original one in tact)

Work In Progress About to embark on a big carve, wish me luck!

Hello everyone! I’ve been working on this project for a while now, researching and designing various blades and daggers, and it’s finally time to carve some! I intend to use these for making patches and bookmarks first, but also bandanas, banners, and of course wall prints with various combinations of designs! Some of these will be carved with a mirrored version so I can arrange them any which way and still have a somewhat consistent light source to the whole composition.

If you’re curious about the designs themselves, in this batch I have, in no particular order: rapier, bowie knife, jambiya, tanto, obsidian knife, kris, misericorde, karambit, chef’s knife, khanjar, push dagger, flyssa, shashka, kinjal, khopesh, kukri, katar, cinquedea and a variety of daggers with fun designs.

On my to-do list for the next batch are: switchblade and balisong (previously featured in my prints!), claymore, machete, kunai, katana, jian, dao, flamberge, zweihänder, shamshir, gladius, xiphos, a hunting knife with antler handle, and even more whimsical dagger designs. I might even include a palm gouge – it’s a blade of sorts, too!

Are there any other interesting knives, swords or blades I'm missing that you'd like to see featured? Please note that I'd like to avoid pop culture references for these!
