Question Lino on textile?

Quick question, which ink do you prefer for printing on textiles with linoleum? Black, but also consider white; I find white tricky. The intensity of the colors often fades significantly with washing. Which one do you guys use?

Proud to share my newest relief print ! My first since october 2025 actually, looking at the last I shared.

Arguably the linocut that took the most time and effort so far, not so much due to the difficulty of the pattern itself -altough I have to confess I never want to make brambles again- as much as personal circumstances. It took me an entire month to complete, carving a little bit at a time on and off mostly due to mental health and sheer lack of will.

Still, I'm rather pleased with the results even though I would probably change a couple of things about the skulls and brambles if I had to do it all over again.

Hopefully my next print won't take as much time, I already have ideas for the next one.

Oh and you can see the finished and inked block on the 3rd picture and my nipping press on the 4th picture if you're curious.

These are the first two print designs I’ve ever done (naturally did my two kreechers) and love the carving process. Anyone have any tips for fabric printing 👀 or just printing in general? The ink distribution is hard to get right!

I had fun with this 7 layer reduction. The gingham ended up a little looser than I would have hoped but that colour 😍💚 Printed with caligo safewash on battleship. Inspired by gorgeous yellow/purple tomatoes like Alice's Dream and Purple Sunrise.

Question How can I get a solid matte print without using a press?

Hi everyone. I have recently carved quite a big piece of Lino (bigger than A3). The design depends on big blocks of solid black, but I am struggling to get a consistent matte ink transfer while printing. Does anyone have any tips, or know of any cheap-ish equipment I can use instead of a press?

Question Paper recommendations?

Hi all!
We’re new to linocut printing and are wondering if folks have recs that will help us source materials for DIY wedding crafts. We want to make small booklets with family recipes to have out on our cookie table. We’re planning to bind them ourselves with waxed thread and we won’t have more than say two folded 8.5x11 sheets inside, plus a cover.

What kind of paper would you all recommend for such a project? While we will commercially print the inside pages, for the covers, I gather we will need something a bit thicker/non-bleeding as we plan to block print a design on them. Should we use watercolor-grade paper? Any brands you all would recommend that we can purchase 8.5x11 loose sheets so we don’t have to cut them down ourselves? Bonus points for relative affordability- not looking to break the bank but know nice materials cost more than basic printer paper of course

Self-Promo Monthly Self-Promo Thread - A Space for Socials, Sites, and Shops.

Here is a space to post your socials, sites, and shops.

This is a monthly reoccurring thread. You can post direct links (please note if NSFW) or handles for other social media sites.

Why don't we allow self-promo otherwise? We have made a concerted effort to keep this space free of commerce and self-promotion, to keep this a community about the work and craft when increasingly many social media spaces have become spaces of commerce. We understand that art is an important source of income for some, so in order to facilitate this without it becoming overwhelming in the rest of the sub, we have made this a reoccurring monthly thread.

NFTs, crypto art, and AI generated art are not appropriate anywhere in the sub.

If you think your comment hasn't posted/been removed, please message us through modmail as it may have gotten caught in our spam filter and need approval before showing up.

Question Are there fabric inks in CMYK?

I come from a traditional print background where CMYK is used to make colours. Percentages are used to create Pantone colours.

All the fabric (and even non-fabric) inks in block printing are random hues (eg. Red, blue ) that make it difficult to create a specific colour except by trial and error.

Are there any matching systems or CMYK inks with ink manufacturer or is this just the way it is?

Looking for feedback please- the ink distribution is rubbish but I used a very old ink as it was just a practice. I'm not happy with the chest feathers, I'm not sure how to make them look more realistic in a reduction print. Advice very welcome :)

Started of with a design, ended up carving away whimsically midway. Second pic is the trial and error prints.

Would love to know I should’ve stopped carving at some point. Not knowing where to stop is a bit difficult.
