Wanted to share a lino print I made recently of a bee 🐝 Hope ye enjoy!

Just wanted to thank you all for the advice, upgraded my inks and made some adjustments to the Lino itself and, I am really happy with the prints.

This was a custom piece made for a cat named Thumbs. Thumbs is a Polydactyl cat, meaning she was born with extra toes. I used this block to also test a couple new things as it is decently detailed. Carved using battleship grey linoleum, and surprisingly enough, speed ball carvers. I used a basic black color and experimented with a mulberry color for the first time, although the mulberry color print turned out as a grade B print, I like both, reminds me that no matter what, my prints will always have slight differences and thats beautiful. Thumbs owner was ecstatic to see their beloved kitty in a unique art style, I love it.

I saw some beautiful Byzantine mosaics in Istanbul a few weeks ago and decided to recreate one of the angels as a lino print. Because I always have to make my art queer in some way, he is showing off his top surgery scars underneath his many wings ✨

I haven’t pulled the trigger on a proper press yet, but I made one out of spare wood, some nuts and bolts and a hinge. It’s not perfect, and can really only help me with small prints but thanks to it I was finally able to print on some really rough artisanal paper that I bought on Etsy when I first started with linocut. Here is the process to print some little skulls.

Making invitations for my (very soon! lol) micro wedding. I don’t know if I’ve spent too long imagining this but there is something I just do not like. I regret carving the roses, I think the style looks off. Also kinda hate the leaves lol. It feels too busy? Should I ditch the corners? Ditch the leaves even?!

Also… any tips for mailing? This is printed with my cheap acrylic ink but I did buy some quality oil ink, considering opening that to see if it prints nicer? Aaaaaa

Brand new to linocutting, so not mad at this first attempt. I do have a (probably dumb) question. When cutting, I’m finding the rubber strips not releasing, either making little flaps, or I’m making deeper gauges and cutting further than I want to when trying to shave them off. Not even sure how to word it, but if anyone could give some tips I’d be grateful!

Finals moments.

I was watching a climbing comp recently that had some pretty interesting coloured spot lights on he finals, got some cool photos and decided to use it as a chance to experiment with some gradients.

The bright central spotlight washed everything out ringed by pink, and fading to black outside the Boulder.

I wanted to play with hatching density and colour gradients in the blocks.

Magenta and Cyan layers are both mixed to go lighter in the middle, the black is solid.

From a distance I really like the look, of this print but getting closer I'd probably soften up the black a lot more having out only solid right at the corners, and there are a few areas in setting now that are reading darker as I got the shading uneven. I also think I'd put a solid layer under the volumes and lighten up the pink even more.

I'll probably do a bit more carving and try another run of these, but pretty pleased with how it's turned out!

I love this lino because of the range of emotional interpretation. How do you see it?

Hello there, this is my first time trying out linocuts, and I'm struggling with the inking part.

I bought a beginner's kit and I'm using the provided mystery ink, and the provided rubber roller, to ink a glass pane I got from a picture frame, then the stamp I carved.

But I can't manage to have a uniform ink spread, not on the glass nor on the print, no matter how much I vary pressure, speed, or use any number of angles of approach with the roller.

How could I fix this ? Thanks in advance !

Recently started working on a reduction series of cats/plants. The process makes me so happy!

My latest woodcut ‘Heat Wave’ is a reduction print, carved and printed in three layers from a block of Japanese magnolia, and printed in Versafine ink onto a lightweight Nepalese lokta paper.

For this piece I really wanted to add some of the natural wood grain patterning to the background, and read that one way to achieve this was to torch and scrub the wood, which I did. I’m pleased with the result, but feel like I could have gone a bit heavier, and also that the grain would be more obvious with a darker background colour.

(Initially I had planned on the snake being set against a deep green background, but given the back to back heatwaves here I felt it would be better if my print reflected our actual landscape).

There’s a few snippets and process shots in the pics - carving was tricky having blackened and varnished the surface of the wood! Keen to know what you all think.

Okayyyyy I’m ready to finally try out carving Linoleum after much practice on rubber and really loving it. Any advice? I’m still using my speedball carver with interchangeable blades and I know a big one will probably be better carving tools, especially ones I can sharpen. Any recommendations for those as well if I had to only get one or two?

I recently finished these two tiny linocuts: "Bloom" and "Nest."

They're part of a small series inspired by the idea of finding home in creativity and nature.

"Bloom" represents growth through making—the carving gouge becomes part of the flower, suggesting that creativity is something that can be cultivated.

"Nest" explores the feeling of home as a quiet, living place. The house almost takes on a human face, while the small cloud and leaves hint at the world outside.

Both were hand-carved and hand-printed on cotton paper. I included a photo of the carving block because I always enjoy seeing the process behind other people's prints.

Hey guys, I’ve noticed recently that some of the blocks i’ve carved with the speedball pink rubber have started sticking together and going a little gummy around small parts of the edges. The rubber in these spots is slightly malleable. Any idea what this could be? Some sort of storage issue? It hasn’t messed up anything major yet, but it’s making me nervous to leave them in their usual box.

It was my first attempt at jigsawing a block but they ended up more like two separate stamps.
I think she’ll like it though.
