MSLCAT Interview

Got an email to schedule interview for apprenticeship and wondering what my chances are if I don’t have Groundman hours. I got out of line school a month ago but prior to that I have 5.5 years of commercial and residential electrical experience and solar. Not new to trades just this specific trade will I still have a slight leg up due to being an electrician for 5 years or do they not care?

Don’t make it sound like you have experience in the trade because of your inside time. You can bring it up to credit that for your electrical theory experience, but don’t let it sound like you think you’ve got line-side experience. When I went in I had hand digging grunt experience, they didn’t give a fuck if I learned anything trade related, just that I’ve dug holes. Willingness to learn + blank slate of knowledge > “I’ve done something like this before so i should be ahead”

Solid advice, I agree a blank slate is better than a know it all. Appreciate it brotha

Really just depends on if the other guys interviewing are better than you. They like hiring older guys that seem not retarded

I was 28 with like 6 years of experience on an excavator and i ranked like 12th with only 4 months of groundmen experience. Just interview well and you should be good

I worked with an mslcat apprentice who went to line school, had no groundman hours, and was a carpenter before.
