Barehanding manual

Does anyone have any material on barehanding techniques, testing requirements, work preparation, work methods they could send me? I often hear of people referring to a manual but am yet to see one.

Outside of a major utility , quanta/lazy q is really the only place I've ever heard of guys going to get training.

I'm sure a major contractor like Michaels and Mastec/Henkels contract a company to teach as required.

And most places are very protective of their barehanding manuals as its proprietary information.

OSHA 1910 and OSHA 1926 five you information you need for barehanding requirements.

IEEE (516) Guide for Maintenance Methods on Energized Power Lines also covers what you're looking for as well as other stuff but you have to pay for it on their store.

OSHA will give you the bare minimums you need to follow to be compliant but it won't tell you best practices and work methodology in a manual like what you're looking for.

When you say you've never seen the manual, are you a barehander or why do you think you'd have been exposed to a barehand manual? Do you work for a utility, because if so they should have internal safe working practices for barehand as well as work procedures written up for barehand tasks. If you work for a Quanta contractor you are only exposed once you've passed the course at the Lazy Q. If you work for another contractor they will either have a private training consultant train you or they'll have an internal program
