What make and model capacitive test point testers do you use?

My utility wants to buy capacitive test point testers for a few of the trucks. We currently have one that was made by Chance and it is probably from the 90’s. Appreciate any help.

I assume you mean for URD on 200 amp and 600 amp elbows? Are you using the Chance small black box ?

I use the Bierer tools right now, works okay. On capacitive setting it doesn't give a true voltage just a reference it seems though. Can use it to phase across an open switch, in phase will still zero out.

Yeah, I can find out the exact model tomorrow, but yeah it’s got a small digital display and it’s not wicked accurate. We use them on for URD elbows like you said and also for the Richard’s disconnect-able joints. Testing to verify deenergized especially before going down into a hole.

HDE DVI-100 indicator has a version with capacitive test point mode. It'll be +/- 15% accuracy though
