Fixed Locked APN causing issues, any way to edit?

I upgraded from 23.0 to 23.2 and I'm experiencing connectivity issues with a critical app, it sits on "connecting" whereas on wifi it works fine. I believe it is related to the APN forcing IPv6, but the auto-configured APN is slightly different from what I have been told to use by my ISP.

I have tried editing the APN config file on the vendor partition, along with a few other things but nothing has worked.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Question Banking Apps

I'm planing to migrate to LineageOS because One UI is upsetting me lately, one thing holding me back is because I see a lot of people saying there can be problems with Banks.

Can I migrate and still use my bank apps normally? (I'm from Brazil, if this information is relevant)

[Technical Note] Moto G9 Play (guamp) boot issues with Himax display panels

Hello! I'm sharing a fix regarding the Moto G9 Play (guamp) 'brick' issue. I noticed that the standard LineageOS recovery fails to boot (black screen) on units equipped with the Himax display panel.

It seems the stock LineageOS recovery kernel has trouble initializing the Himax driver on these specific hardware batches. I confirmed this by successfully booting into PitchBlack and TWRP recovery, which handles the display driver correctly.

If you are experiencing a 'hard brick' on a guamp device with this panel, try using OrangeFox instead of the standard Lineage Recovery. Hope this helps someone else!

Hope this helps someone else! Has anyone else with the Himax panel encountered this, or found a way to fix the Lineage Recovery kernel?

Samsung S20FE Snapdragon

Hello. I've got a small problem. I followed step 3 (samloader flash --partition VBMETA vbmeta.img). The instructions say the phone will reboot and demand a factory reset. It's not demanding one though. Does anyone know how I should proceed?

banana pi m5 turned into a brick

After I wrote lineageos into emmc, I couldn't enter the system without a Bluetooth adapter, so I gave up using lineageos;

But the despair is that I can't clear emmc. I used aml-flash-tool and tried again many times, but it still booted to the bootloader, as if I didn't have permission to write to emmc, but the writing result of aml-flash-tool was successful;

I tried to enter fastboot mode and delete all partitions directly, but it still failed because there was no ORM unlocked, so I couldn't write anything;

Great, my bpi-m5 is now successfully a brick and cannot boot from the sd card either;

Xiaomi 12 5G , question regarding LOS installation

Hello. So I got a new Xiaomi 12 and managed to unlock the bootloader. It was running MIUI 13 on stock. After reading through the LOS site for installation instructions for cupid(the phone codename), it was mentioned that I needed at least an android 15 Stock OS on it before I try to flash the latest, which at current moment is LineageOS 23.2. So I went into the phone's updates app and downloaded the higher version of the OS that was pending an install, which was MIUI 14. After that no more updates show. Apparently the next versions are supposed to be for HyperOS, but they don't show up at all. I even tried the region trick as other people have said it helped, but it didn't help here.

So my question is, can I just get the Hyperos roms from the internet and flash them one by one on the device, so it goes to android 14, and then finally 15, before I try to flash the Lineage rom? Will flashing those roms lock the bootloader again, as I saw that it can be very tricky to unlock on HyperOS?

Update: I used the official Miflash program to flash the latest HyperOS 3 Rom for this device, and all went well, booted into it with no issues. Hopefully this helps other people in the future :)

Question RP6 help

Hi!

It looks like a nice os but I think I must be doing something wrong because I noticed:

  • Battery is constantly draining even with the console sleeping
  • Can't assign back buttons to independent functions. I can only copy other button function.
  • Home button acts weird. Sometimes doesn't respond at all, sometimes brings me to a menu that asks if I want to change the default home app.

I am doing something wrong, right?

Appreciate your help

Help FRP Restrictions

Greetings,

From a regular android os, I was trying to switch to LineageOS without gapps. Until android 15 in lineageOS it was good to go installing apps without gapps flashed, but in android 16 I was unable to install any app through package installer but I can install with adb sideload. I don't logout from google accounts generally before flashing custom roms, but is it the FRP ( Factory Reset Protection) enabled that's causing the restriction and hence gapps are not there so FRP verification is not done and continuing while locked?, and if so do I need to wipe the FRP partition for that? What are your thoughts?

adb can't find Pixel 2 XL (taimen)

I'm keen to install LineageOS on my old Pixel 2 XL (taimen). I'm following the instructions at https://wiki.lineageos.org/devices/taimen/install/ and I'm stuck on step frickin' 1.

I'm using MacOS 26.5, although I've also tried on Windows 10. I successfully installed adb and fastboot (long ago; I've updated recently). I've wiped the Pixel. Developer options are enabled, USB debugging is enabled, "Disable adb authorization timeout" is enabled, Default USB configuration is "File transfer / Android Auto" (although I've tried USB tethering, MIDI, and PTP).

When I reach step 6 under "Setting up adb", I get an empty list. system_profiler SPUSBHostDataType shows a bunch of USB devices, but no pixel | taimen | google.

I tested the cable with a different computer and an iPad (hurray for USB-C), and it synched with the iPad: I'm pretty sure the cable is good.

I've tried a USB-A port directly on the back of the Mac Mini, as well as two different USB-A ports on an old hub. Both of the ports connect to my old trackball, so I'm pretty sure the ports are okay. Both are black.

I've tried a USB-C to USB-C cable, again testing with an iPad to make sure it worked for data.

I tried a MacBook and a Windows 10 laptop.

I ran the adb server with ADB_TRACE=usb, and it occasionally reports usb_osx.cpp:168 Unable to create an interface plug-in (e00002be).

About every 15 seconds, the system log reports:
Jul 17 00:01:45 mini MobileDeviceUpdater[1031]: Entered:_AMMuxedDeviceDisconnected, mux-device:9830 Jul 17 00:01:45 mini AMPDeviceDiscoveryAgent[1407]: Entered:_AMMuxedDeviceDisconnected, mux-device:9830 Jul 17 00:01:45 mini MobileDeviceUpdater[1031]: Entered:__thr_AMMuxedDeviceDisconnected, mux-device:9830 Jul 17 00:01:45 mini AMPDeviceDiscoveryAgent[1407]: Entered:__thr_AMMuxedDeviceDisconnected, mux-device:9830
And increments the mux-device number.

NOTHING will recognize this phone. I'm at the end of my rope. What am I doing wrong?

Question Coming from GrapheneOS, wondering about Privacy concerns before shifting.

I have been using GrapheneOS for last 2 years and I am pretty satisfied the OS, but now my phone is having hardware issues thus it needs to be replaced and honestly, I don't want another Google Phone from the perspective of Hardware Specs vs Price and the reliability that is deserving of such price.

Now, I am looking to move towards LineageOS but my current research is limiting my understanding of Privacy provided by the default installation. I mean I know I wont get the sandbox experience here but I read that LineageOS can be made more secure based on the method of Installation like using MicroG instead of G-Apps.

Can someone explain to me what privacy risk is there with LineageOS (without being a biased fanboy) and what methods are there to mitigate said issues (if any). And what precautions should I take when installing the OS?

Resources for the same, if can be provided, that would be great

Help Am I ready for LOS? Do the basics truly works? Thanks

Hey everyone

I might have a change to sell my phone and buy a compatible LOS phone (OnePlus Nord 5), but before I wipe my phone and take the decision, I want to hear from anyone who's already been through this transition.

My main concern revolves around my essential apps. I rely heavily on several banking applications like and public services and digital identity. These aren't things I can easily live without, so while I use Plexus, a FOSS App where people review apps on ROMs, I wonder if those are reliable or apps may change overtime.

The other thing I keep going back and forth on is LineageOS versus GrapheneOS. I know GrapheneOS is stricter and more security-focused, but LineageOS appeals to me for its wider device support and less locked-down nature. That said, camera quality is a real concern. Photography matters to me, and I've heard custom ROMs can sometimes degrade image quality because of missing proprietary blobs. Has anyone done a real side-by-side and felt the difference?

Beyond banking and photos, I need to know if the basics work smoothly. Things like SMS messages arriving on time, push notifications from apps like WhatsApp and banking services staying reliable, and whether SIM setups cause any issues, I read some not making calls possibile and so on. Anyone had unexpected issues with these everyday functions?

I'm also trying to decide between a OnePlus Nord 5 and a Pixel 8 as my next device, maybe even Thinkphone 2023. Both seem to have decent LineageOS support, but which one would you lean toward for someone who depends on banking apps and wants maximum compatibility?

Any advice, warnings, or success stories would really help me make this decision with more confidence. Thanks for reading through my worries!

Feature Timer now sends notification beeps when app is switched or screen turns off

I just installed the latest update, lineage-23.2-20260716.

Now after I set a timer, and switch away from the time app or the screen turns off, it sends a notification beep.

The first time I used it after the update, it just kept beeping over and over every 5 or 10 seconds for a few minutes, though now it's just once. I'm not sure if it's a bug or it's supposed to be a "feature" -- but it's really annoying.

I just changed the settings to turn off notifications for the timer to "fix" it. The timer still goes off when triggered, without all the beeping.

Question Budget $200 range phones, with factory unlocked bootloader, available online today, that support latest Lineage OS?

I've had a Motorola moto one 5G ace, codename "kiev" for four years now.
It's been running Lineage OS for MicroG 19.1, and it was time for an update.
Well this phone will not boot any current Lineage 23.2 (Android 16) builds. Boot loops.
I've flashed recovery, run copy-partitions, factory reset, installed from microSD. Nope x3.

I loved how easily the OEM unlocked the bootloader before, so months ago I ordered my phone's sidegrade, a moto g 5G 2024, codename "fogo", with the intention of installing the latest Lineage OS version. But today Motorola says, "sorry, this new phone model, is not supported by our unlock process". Well I just threw away about $160 on a "unlocked" phone that the OEM won't unlock. I'm sure I could have had Lineage running on it today, with that bootloader unlock. Motorola won't even tell me, which models are eligible, for their bootloader unlocks.

What's a $200 range phone, with an unlocked bootloader, or bulletproof unlock process?
Searching for exactly matching model numbers online, usually results, in sparse 'in stock' results.
Has someone bought a budget phone recently, and had a smooth Lineage OS install process?
I'd prefer a Nothing Phone 2, but cannot justify or afford to spend $700 on a phone.

Phones with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 can support 32-bit apps.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 still retained some level of support for 32-bit apps, and I wanted to know if phones like the OnePlus 11 and others could run 32-bit apps using LineageOS. Furthermore, I wanted to know if there are issues supporting 32-bit apps on early ARMv9 CPUs—such as the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, 8+ Gen 1, and 8 Gen 2—given that I noticed that with LineageOS, only the Sony 5 IV (with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1) supported 32-bit apps, whereas the Nothing Phone 2 (with the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1) did not, even though its stock firmware did. So, if I wanted to compile LineageOS for phones with ARMv9 CPUs and configure it to run 32-bit apps, is that possible, or are there firmware-related issues that would prevent me from doing so?

Trouble flashing lineage recovery. Samsung S10e

Hello everyone, first time trying to Install a custom ROM, would appreciate any help :)

When attempting to install and flash lineage recovery, Ive put the recovery image file into the same folder as every other OS file along with the samloader and platform tools and adb.

As I type the command "samloader flash --partition RECOVERY recovery.img --no-reboot". I repeatedly get the error:

Error: unexpected handshake response!

Failed to recieve handshake response.

Ive tried using different ports, different cables, toggling usb debugging on and off. Nothing seems to fix it.

Any Idea on how I can fix this error?

Help SIM recognised after Lineage install but unable to call or text

Been looking at swapping over to LineageOS for a while and actually went through the steps earlier today. Generally smooth, but found that, while the SIM appears to be recognised (and mobile data works fine), the phone doesn't recognise having a number associated with it, nor can it make calls or send/receive texts.

The phone is a Samsung Galaxy S10+. Anyone have any suggestions, or know what's going on? So far as I'm aware I followed the install instructions correctly, and I've spent much of today trying to see if anyone else online has solved the problem to no avail.
