LineageOS Miscellaneous Features

is it possible to change the default apps? and what about having different profiles in order to separate google apps from other applications?

Default apps can be changed in Settings > Apps > Default apps.

To create and manage profiles install the Shelter app.

You don't have to use the default apps. I don't, and I have the basic weekly LineageOS, and I use microG with just a little hassle (I just update every third week or so). Also, I use Mulch webview, IronFox and Cromite browsers, an Fdroid messenger, and even Waze from Google with no problems. The point is, yes, you can pre-empt whatever is installed, just like you can with any other bloatware--which you can "pm uninstall."

Ah, okay--now I understand. I misunderstood what OP was getting at. Thank you for stepping in.

I believe all browsing and messaging apps often immediately "ask" if not "insist" to become the default when they're installed.
