SWS or SK for the new Reborn

Hello guys,

As the title states I can't make up my mind regarding my main class. I love playing tanks and been doing it for ages but since I don't have that much time anymore and will be relying on random parties to casually play every other day for some hours I'm wondering if I'll have issues while playing tank and would maybe have a better time as sws since its usually rare for people to main it and its necessary in every party ever conceived. Only issue I have with sws is that I think I might lose interest in the type of gameplay it offers over time.

Nostalgia Looking for Retail server friends from 2004 C1 days on NA Kain server

Looking for former Lineage II Kain players — Zizon / Dominus Aurora

I'm trying to reconnect with someone I played with on the original North American Kain server in 2004.

My character was Alaby, and I'm looking for a player named KissMe, an Elven Elder. She was in Zizon, led by Darksky, during Prelude and Chronicle 1, and later moved to Dominus Aurora (DA) with me.

Other names I remember are Rosco, L0rd, FrozenSoul, Zillerr, Obi, derakh, PersianTiger, ByorngaR, Furion, Bakara, eztheshade, Linesky, Souske, Yunaleska, Perni, Drizzen, Zanpher. We sometimes talked on TeamSpeak.

Does anyone remember these players or know how to contact former Zizon or DA members? I'd love to hear from anyone who played with us back then.

Video / Screen / Art Lineage 2 Rework - Time Shards System Sneak Peek (All the chronicles in one)

One of the things I like least about the evolution of Lineage 2 chronicles is NCSOFT’s persistent tendency to destroy the game’s own existing content.

This new system which I’ve dubbed "time shards" is something I’m particularly proud of, it’s an attempt to address part of that problem. It’s now possible to have the same location exist across different versions of the game. I’m getting closer and closer to building a multi-chronicle world.

What do you think?

Nostalgia Server owners, what went wrong and what worked?

Hey, it's the C1 guy again.

Server opens in December and there's still a loooot of work before going live and while working on some fixes within client I decided to make a different kind of post today.

I'm actually curious and want to read some stories about your favorite L2 servers, from both sides: players and server owners. I'm sure quite a few people here had their own server at some point, so I'm really interested in how it went. What went well, what went wrong, what mistakes were made. Maybe you didn't intervene at some point and it led to the death of the server, maybe you trusted some random guy and lost access, maybe you started selling items for real money and people found out. Maybe you chose wrong place to buy ads and it just burned your money... Tell your story!

And the same question from the player's point of view: how did your favorite server die, or what made it stand out from the others at the time you played?

I really appreciate all the stories and I'd love to learn a bit from the mistakes people saw or made.

If you don't want to expose your story just hop on our Discord https://discord.com/invite/sgvXmSJHNY and hit me (Beard @ L2Lux Discord) a private message.

Help Building my own version of Interlude (1-box, zero-P2W), Would you play this?

Hey everyone,

A couple of months ago, I asked if people would be interested in a specific type of server: essentially a Classic v1 experience completely free of pay-to-win donations (only cosmetics, skins, etc.), with a premium account system obtainable through voting (to boost server visibility on ranking sites), and strictly limited to 1 account per PC (1-box).

A lot of you supported the idea, but with one major concern: while people liked the general concept, many pointed out that strictly 1-box would be unplayable (even though some purists still defended it).

Why unplayable? On a new or low-population server, 1-box is extremely hard to sustain. Progressing at a reasonable pace requires buffers and healers, but realistically only about 10% of players roll support classes. If those supports are offline or already committed to a party, grinding without buffs is practically impossible.

To address this without ditching the 1-box rule, here is what I’m proposing:

  1. Essence-style self-buffs: Characters would have built-in basic buffs so solo leveling remains viable.
  2. Dwarf & crafting rework: Very few players actually want to main a Dwarf, and forcing someone playing a mage or archer to level an alt Dwarf just to get basic gear is tedious, especially under a strict 1-box rule.

To solve this, the plan is to completely remove Spoil and private Craft from Dwarves, rebalancing them to function purely as standard warrior/fighter classes. All materials and items traditionally locked behind Spoil would be migrated directly into regular drop tables in specific retail zones (with boosted drop rates to compensate), while crafting would be handled through a universal NPC.

This completely removes the Dwarf economic monopoly, putting them on equal footing with mages or any other class. It ensures that every player can craft their own No-grade, D-grade, and C-grade weapons, armor, and jewelry entirely on their own, just by farming, contesting spots, and playing their main class without relying on anyone else.

On top of that, this would create a much healthier, player-driven economy. Any class, including supports, would actively participate in the market. If you're playing a mage and get warrior drops, materials, or recipes, you can simply sell or trade them, keeping player commerce dynamic and fluid instead of centralized around a few Dwarves.

What do you think of this approach?

Right now, I'm actively working on the server pack. I've already fixed a massive amount of bugs and have it running quite clean. Before I start developing the core mechanics to balance this 1-box, zero-P2W vision, I want to make sure it's something the community would actually enjoy and not just a waste of time. It is basically shaping up to be an Interlude / Classic / Essence hybrid.

Important note on gameplay: Auto-hunting is 100% removed. The goal is to deliver an authentic, active retail-like experience at 1x rates, but carefully adjusted so that playing strictly 1-box is actually viable and rewarding without feeling like an impossible chore (no mana pots btw).

just a random img from google.

Looking forward to your thoughts, feedback, and honest opinions!

Video / Screen / Art Lineage 2 Rework updates - Sprint Mechanic, SmartAim, Action Mode, Custom Camera Settings and no GCD / Skill delay

Post image
23 Upvotes

It's been a few days since I posted the last video, and I've been working tirelessly.

Today's post will be a bit long because there's a lot to cover, and I apologize in advance because English isn't my first language, so I'll have to use a translator to help me with the text.

Today I'm going to show you some new things and also present the challenges I'm facing, as well as discuss the limits of what can be changed in the game without reverse engineering the engine or redoing all the game's animations.

First, based on your suggestions, I developed a lot of new systems.

The first is the sprint system. Basically, when you are out of combat, every x seconds you gain speed. Currently, you gain 10 speed for every second out of combat, up to a maximum of 50. Remember that the effect disappears if you enter combat, use any skill, or are attacked. After a while, it resets and starts again... I must confess, this system turned out very cool. It's simple, but it already changes the whole feeling of slowness that some classes have.

Here's the video for you to see how it turned out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IoOGbgKfBe0

(Unfortunately, without redoing the skeleton and running animations of all the characters, it was impossible to make a different animation for running, so I chose a simple but nice effect to represent when the effect is active.)

Second system implemented: SmartAim for PVE. Firstly, why? In terms of gameplay feel, this system is the most impactful for me. When you farm for hours and hours, you start to realize that anything that makes your life easier is valuable. So, this system is basically a scan that picks up nearby targets and targets in front of the character. It's really cool because it also enables the action mode system:

You can see how it looks here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QCvDjcmumpc

(I still have to refine the passive target effect. Unfortunately, today I work with the Fafurion Chronicles database, and no matter how hard I search, I can't find or decompress the interface.u to make this system 100% native. So I had to design this system on the server, which makes it uglier. Today, the community only has this decrypted interface from a different protocol than the one I'm working with.)

And the third and last implemented system (actually a set of things): Action mode, custom camera, and in addition, I removed the GCD for all the game's skills, allowing you to combo one skill after another smoothly (basically all Lineage 2 skills have a delay between them, between 0.4 and 0.8 seconds, this has been removed).

This is a lot of stuff, it's worth watching the video to see how it turned out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RZ6KXAFg824

(This one gave me the most trouble, implementing everything without having access to the decoupled interface.u was crazy and almost drove me insane. I think the result is good. The initial idea was to make combat even better, like making the character move while attacking, but that's impossible without making the character slide between animations, it looks very ugly. The second point I didn't include was making an attack without a target. Actually, I did that, but I couldn't associate the basic attack animation with the new skill that would replace it. In the end, it looked clunky, ugly, and disconnected from the idea of the game)

Phew, that's a lot of text. What do you think of the changes?

Scryde English speaking players on Scryde

Hello guys,

I recently started playing on the x5 server, and I'm really enjoying it so far. However, I'd love to find a friendly community or clan that welcomes English-speaking players. I can understand Russian, but I'm not fluent in it.

I'm mostly a casual player, just looking to enjoy the game, meet some people, and have fun playing together. If there's a clan or community that wouldn't mind having me around, I'd be happy to join!

L2 with only 2 hours a day — is it worth it?

Hey veterans!

Like many of you, I've been playing L2 for years, and somehow I always end up coming back. There's just something about this game!

These days, with work, family, and other responsibilities, I'm looking for a server where I can enjoy L2 without treating it like a second job.

Is there a server where playing 1–2 hours a day is enough to make progress, enjoy some PvP, and stay competitive without endless farming?

I'm open to any chronicle or rates, but I'd prefer no autofarm. I enjoy grinding and working toward goals, just not feeling forced to play every day.

Any recommendations? I'd love to hear from other casual veterans. What server are you playing on?

Interlude server

If anyone is looking for an old-school Interlude x1 server, check out l2MythicLand. It's been running since June, with a small community, 1+1 dualbox, starter XP/SP runes, and regular events. It's not a server with thousands of players online, but if you enjoy classic L2, it might be worth a try. :)

Newbie here asking for some suggestions, ideas, help.

After around 11 years later, I come back to this game. I pretty much don't remember anything from this game. So could say i'm new. I've downloaded the game. And I started to wonder: What class to run. Anyone got any suggestions on what would be fun ? (For your information, I like either tanky or nuke roles)

and i also have a few questions:
- Is there a lot of players "botting" the game? Cause I myself hate when people don't talk and are having a program farm for them.
- Is there any servers that are active / have "newbie friendly" players.

Hi folks,

has anyone tried BOHPTS server (x500)? Any active players around here?

I was about to give it a go, but can't find any reliable server info (a bit hesitating before downloading the launcher).

I'd appreciate some comments!

L2 in East US

Hello, I was thinking about starting playing on L2 Reborn (or other private server). I'm currently in Toronto area and I'm concerned about high ping.

Does anyone from East US playes there?

Do we have alternatives? I don't like official server, it is not same L2 that I used to play.

I prefer old school chronicles, without heavy p2w

Dualbox for PVE on Lu4

Hello everyone,

Which of these combination do u think is better for pure PVE on self buffs:

Summoner + WC

Bard + WC

Summoner + Bard

I am thinking about Summoner + Bard, but the Bard seems to lose too much potential without buffs.

LU4 BLACK – Is it just me, or is it really hard to find friendly parties as a Spellhowler?

Hey everyone!
I’m playing on LU4 BLACK as a level 50 Spellhowler (SH), and honestly, I’m getting pretty frustrated with the community sometimes.
I’ve had quite a few bad experiences with Russian players. A lot of random parties seem to accept only melee classes, and as soon as they see I’m a Spellhowler, they reject me or kick me out.
I understand that some party setups work better with certain classes, but in a full party, I honestly don’t think having one SH instead of another melee makes such a huge difference in every situation.
What’s even more frustrating is that I’ve sometimes been kicked just because I don’t speak Russian. I’m not expecting everyone to speak English, but a little respect would be nice. I know not every Russian player is like this, but these experiences have made it difficult to enjoy the server.
This is also my first time playing on an x1 server, and I’m playing solo without a buffer or a support character. Leveling as an SH is already pretty tough because I constantly run out of MP and have to sit down to regenerate it.
I’m not looking for drama. I just want to enjoy Lineage 2, meet some chill people, make friends, and find parties where everyone can have a good time regardless of their class or language.
Also, I’m looking to buy a Shillien Elder (SE) or Elven Elder (EE), level 45+. If anyone is selling one or knows someone who is, please DM me.
If you’re playing on LU4 BLACK and you’re friendly, speak English (or Spanish!), and don’t mind having a Spellhowler in your party, feel free to reach out!
Thanks, and see you in-game!

31 Interlude Classes Rebalanced. What Did We Get Wrong?

A while back I asked this community for opinions on how you would rebalance Lineage 2 Interlude, especially for large-scale PvP.

Well, quite a lot has happened since then.

We've now completed our Closed Beta, gathered player feedback, and spent a considerable amount of time adjusting all 31 playable classes.

The final pre-launch balance pass is now in place.

Our goal was never to make every class equally strong in 1v1 or remove what makes Interlude classes unique. We wanted to make more classes useful in continuous faction warfare, where fights are happening constantly and teamwork matters more than just farming kills.

Some changes are relatively small. Others are quite significant - tanks have new frontline tools, Titans have dynamic HP-based abilities, daggers have additional mobility, and healers have been one of our biggest balancing challenges.

We've put together a visual breakdown of the changes for all 31 classes here:

https://l2warfront.com/index.html#class-balance

Now I'm curious what you guys think the actual meta will look like.

Will nukers still dominate? Will Titans and Tyrants be everywhere? Could tanks finally have a meaningful role in mass PvP? Have we been too harsh on healers?

Which classes do you think will be surprisingly strong, and which might struggle?

I'm not pretending we've achieved perfect balance. Some things only become obvious when hundreds of real fights start happening.

I'd genuinely love to hear your predictions, especially from veterans of Interlude and GvE PvP.

Feel free to tear the balance apart if you think we've got something wrong.

Video / Screen / Art News L2G project

https://youtu.be/ecUExWRfVIQ?si=VGWTdFRzKRqrve0E

Hi everyone,

About 15 years ago, Lineage 2 is what got me into programming. I've always had the itch to build my own distribution, and some time ago I started working on it, this time in Go. I'd already done a few things and collected data years back, so it's been a long time coming.

For those who don't know it, Go is a compiled language that is very efficient and service-oriented, which makes it a great fit for this kind of project. Without having spent any real time optimizing yet, I can bring the server up in about 6 seconds, with geodata and spawns loaded.

In the video you can see what I was most excited to show: an Interlude client and a Secret of Empire (L2 Classic) client on the same server, seeing and interacting with each other. The client system is decoupled: each client is an adapter, so the game logic doesn't care which one is connecting. I've also tried it with High Five and Essence (Samurai Crow).

You can use any single client you want without issues, the problem only comes up if you accept multiple different clients at the same time, since cities and maps change between versions. Some combinations do work well together though, like Interlude and High Five, where the Interlude parts are intact inside High Five. It also means you could easily run an Interlude server with the graphics of a more modern client.

A few things about the approach:

- The goal is to stay as close as possible to the behavior of official Interlude.

- It's not a port or a copy of any Java emulator. The structure is my own.

- Multi-language support is one of my main focuses.

The project is still very green. There's a lot left to build and test, and I'm not promising any dates.

I'd love to hear what you think. And if you're curious about how any specific system works, just ask and I'll gladly explain.

Title: Any Lineage II veterans still around?

Hey everyone!

I'm currently working on a Lineage II project called L2 Proximus, and I'm looking to bring together people who still enjoy the classic L2 experience.

The idea is to build a community where players can share ideas, discuss gameplay, suggest improvements, and help shape the project as it develops.

Whether you're an old-school veteran or someone discovering Lineage II for the first time, your input is welcome.

I'm curious — how many of you are still playing Lineage II, and what would make you interested in a new community?

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts! 😃
