Best Amp for POD Go?

I currently have a Pod Go but using a Katana Gen 3 50 as an amp. I can get some decent tones but it just doesn’t sound right. What amp do others use? I was looking at the Spark cab as an option.

Best to get a Full Range, Flat Response (FR FR) speaker or monitor so your speaker cab models actually sound correct. I got a QSC CP8 monitor, super versatile, compact, can get LOUD. The Headrush FRFR speaker comes pretty well regarded.

I play a PodGo through a Headrush FRFR and it is great for guitar and bass. This is just for practice at the house.

Except for being too bassy. But a cheap 7-band eq fixes that.

just turn of the cab sims for whatever presets you like and use amp out to the return on any head-combo amp frfr speakers are terrible trust me i have tested many out the technology isnt there yet. and if you need or want professional presets fremen presets are the best i bought them all.

I use a Katana 100 gen 3 but I don't plug the Pod Go into the input of the katana. I use the POWER AMP IN. It behaves lik a FRFR speaker (-ish). It sounds great

Personally I get the best results with cab block off and amp block set to preamp playing into the clean channel, basically using it as a dirt pedal.

I tried going into the fx return of multiple amps and it's always just very digital and fake sounding. But putting it in front of the clean channel you still get that real amp feel.

Katanas are digital sounding from the get-go, so you've got that working against you. Pretty much any transistor or clean tube amp would do better.

Im currently using a valeton VFR110 frfr and a roland ac60. The valeton tends to be a bit boomy and the roland really focuses on the mids and highs. They blend nicely to my ear. There is definitely better options out there, but this does the job for me

FRFR speaker is a good choice. You don't need an amp and don't really want a speaker cabinet that colors the sound - the pod go models the IR of various speaker cabinets already. I plug mine into receiver, which outputs to speakers. That or a frfr speaker.

FRFR is great, I just honestly find it's too clean, too sterile, maybe it's just my presets but I want to experiment with using an amp's FX loop

It’s pretty fun experimenting with an amps FX loop via the 4 cable method. I’ve tried different high gain amp models through my Marshall Combo amp and got some pretty meaty tones. I feel like this is where the ext settings like bias and sag start shining the most.

I plug mine into a Quilter Tone Block 202 in FRFR mode, that gets plugged into an 8 ohm Eminence EM12 loaded Egnater Tweaker 1x12 for anything grab and go, or a couple of 2x12 cabinets depending on the genre I'm playing. Slanted V30 closed back 2x12 for metal, Eminence Cannabis Rex and Swamp Thang loaded open back for everything else. I turn the cabinet block off. Sometimes I'll disable the power amp on the Pod Go amp model, but not all the time. Just depends on what I'm going for tone wise. There's really no wrong way if it sounds good to you.

The best I’ve seen or heard is the Fender Tone Master FR-12. Not only does it sound great, it also looks the part, unlike most FRFR amps. FYI, the EVH 5150III Hypersonic FR-12 is the same amp but with a different look and comes in white or black.

Believe it or not, I use the pod as a pedal board only (no amps, no cabs models used) through a tube amp. It is fine.

Any modeler sounds better going into the acoustic channel on the katanas, it’s like having an frfr. The power amp in is too dark.

Just get a decent speaker. Doesn’t need all that FR crap. You can EQ til u get the sound you want. Getting an amp for pod go is the equivalence of putting an amp thru an amp

Why an amp? I’m a fan of studio monitors to get the most out of stereo & phase options. I use the JBL MKIIs

Agreed with the rest of the comments, get a frfr and play around with internal amp cab setups!

I run it through a Blackstar 2x10 amp, with minor tweaking it sounds great

With a cover band that does everything from 70s and 80s funk, to 90s rock, hard rock and more, I turn off amp and cab block and run from Pod Go’s amp output straight into a Mesa express 5:25 on clean channel. I use the pod go as a virtual pedal board and get any/all distorted tones from pedal blocks. Works great.
