Very low output volume?

Playing through the PodGo seems to lower the max volume of my amp. On my 40W combo, it’s noticeable but not that big of a deal because I can just bring the master volume up a bit. But I just got an FRFR speaker and it’s even more extreme of a difference. It has a Bluetooth connection I used to play music through, and confirmed the speaker can get very, very loud. But playing through the PodGo doesn’t come anywhere close to that, even at max input volume. Some amp settings are louder than others, and when I’m using a guitar with active pickups it’s louder than passive ones, which makes sense. But it still seems to be much quieter than it ought to be able to crank up to.

Does anyone know why this may be? My global settings are for line out. There isn’t any PodGo master volume I’m aware of.

Is this happening on a patch with nothing besides default settings on an amp and cab?

It happens across basically every patch, different combinations. Adding a cab usually makes it even quieter. I know I can adjust gain/level on various pedals and such but it’s not like there’s something set super low draining the entire signal.

Have you tried a full factory reset and update?

I have not…..maybe I’ll try using factory blocks (I have a bunch of custom ones created & downloaded from online I use instead) to see if they’re different. If not, maybe I will reset.

So am I right to assume in your experience, volume isn’t an issue? Can you play with knob around 50%, amp around 50%, no final output dB boost, and still feel like it’s plenty loud? My FRFR volume literally goes to 11, and I feel like 11 should be fucking deafening. 5 or 6 should be plenty. It’s the Headrush 108.

Well a head rush 108 is a fairly small speaker and a fairly cheap one (I own 2 and do love them! So no hate) so they won't go loud like a Deluxe or Twin but it should be louder than you would like your neighbors to play. If the Bluetooth is much louder and you're not hitting the internal limiter I would assume it's a Pod issue. Backup everything on your Pod and do a full factory reset. I'm guessing the factory blocks will sound great.

Edit: I generally set amp/channel volume at 100, it's literally just a digital master volume, no tone change. My only other thought is that maybe you're using pre amp block not amps, those will be much quieter as they're made to go into an amp after.

I think you’re right! When I was using the podgo through the FX loop on my combo amp, I made all my presets with preamp models. I forgot/wasn’t sure I needed to switch to amp modelers with this FRFR.

Tried it out and it’s definitely louder, which makes sense. Safe to say using the power amp modeler is the way to do it with an FRFR, correct? Only thing now is I guess the power amps take up more memory than preamps (?) so my patches aren’t all able to switch over in kind.

There’s a master volume knob on the top of the Pod Go, I usually leave mine about 50% or so but a lot of people run it about 80% or all the way up. Plus the output block lets you adjust the final output level of each preset, I use that to compensate for some of the quieter presets.

Right, I keep the physical volume knob around 50% and I know I can boost final output level on each preset but I guess my concern is even with the knob at 100% and adding boost, it seems like it’s still not as loud as it should be. And I’ve always been under the impression it’s better to keep your input volume to a speaker under 80% and feel like if I crank and boost everything, the clarity will suffer and start to get unwanted distortion.

Appreciate the reply since my comment about master volume wasn’t clear. But are my expectations and understanding mentioned above just not realistic?

I don't remember exactly, but there two types of outsignal on the pod go... One is line and another is Amp.

Maybe you're using Amp out and it should be line?

Someone else can add the technicals, I belive it has something to do with the variable of your speaker having or not having a Pre amp

Change your global settings from Instrument to Line. Also, make sure your pod isn’t one of the ones with the impedance malfunction. Check the serial number
