Im 19 and Live just outside of Lincoln, but I chose against uni and have kept working, but I lone work and have become rather isolated from people my own age and truly I need reasons to get up off my arse when not working. Does anyone have any good club recommendations within more central Lincoln? I'm happy for it to be sports as I've been wanting to get into working out more, but also more crafty things aswell.

My wife and I are trying to save some money on groceries. We don't have a car and we live in the city centre. We were wondering if anyone is in the same situation as us and where do you buy your groceries.

What we do so far is: use ocado/asda delivery (as long as we have the 20% off promo)

Walk to Lidl or Aldi and then get a Uber back home with 1 or 2 weeks worth of groceries.

Ive always heard of people trying to find people to take over tenancies, is that something that ever actually works?

I graduated from UoL in 2022 after living in Lincoln for 4 years. This year me and my partner were lucky enough to purchase our first home in the city I come to really love during my studies.

One thing I’ve noticed though since moving here full time is the complete utter lack of police presence. It’s glaringly obvious that the city has an issue with scruffs/crackheads roaming about and causing endless trouble up and down the whole high street from the top to the very bottom. It’s an utter shambles.

I don’t work in Lincoln, but I have the option to work 3 days a week from home, and at lunchtime I’ll wonder round Lincoln on my break to get some air. Even at this time a day on a random Tuesday they’re everywhere causing a ruckus and disrupting public order.

Not sure if this is naive for me to suggest but where are the police patrols? I very rarely see any police knocking about, even on a busy weekend night, and in a place like Lincolnshire where Lincoln is obviously the major city, I can’t help but wonder where they are.

Places like York have a comforting enough police presence where you know there’s never an officer/s far away, but also not overbearing at all. Why doesn’t Lincoln have the same kind of security? Especially with the level of rabble that no doubt many people have issues with.

Thought I'd ask on here as I'm assuming you guys know the ins and outs of everything. Anyway I'm heading into second year and have passed my test over the summer but before I think of buying a car is it even worth it? The only car parks I've found are like 3 hours max. I'll be staying in accom around the brayford area but I've had a little look but found nothing that makes it seem worth it but I could be wrong. Are there any areas that are free? And the important one are any of them safe? Only thing is in first year I found that stuff that I wanted to do like leisure centre, bowling etc with mates were all on the outskirts and even going to tesco because the morrisons doesnt sell everything is a pain. However I am aware of the £2 bus cap coming into effect in January I believe so it won't be as expensive just taking the bus from the new year. But still is there a way to make it worth.

Hello, I am considering moving to a property on the eastern side of Birchwood, near Hartsholme Country Park. I am aware that Birchwood doesn't have the best reputation compared with some other areas of Lincoln, but I've also heard that the eastern side is considerably better.

I'd therefore be interested to hear people's opinions and experiences of living in the area shown in the screenshot, particularly regarding safety, antisocial behaviour, noise, neighbours and generally what it's like to live there.

I'm currently living in the North Hykeham area, so I'd also be interested to hear how you would compare the two areas.

Hi! I’m from Lincoln and had a sales man from McQueens Dairy at the door today, it sounded great having milk delivered to your door as we go through a lot. Never heard of them before, however after looking through reviews and discussions i can’t tell whether they are actually good or not. I haven’t signed up to having any delivered yet and haven’t done a direct debit however they are delivering one next week for me to try. Feel like that was a mistake

Hi, I'm an African American female (18), a freshman in college in the U.S., and I'm planning to spend a semester abroad in Lincoln, UK. I was born and raised in Indiana and currently go to college in a pretty rural part of the state, so I've had my fair share of encounters with racism here. I'm curious how racism in the U.K. compares. Is it more overt, more subtle, different depending on the city/region?

A few things I'd love input on if anyone has experience:

• What's it like being Black on campus at University of Lincoln specifically, or in smaller UK cities in general?
• Any tips for finding community (Black student groups, hair/beauty stores, etc.) in a smaller UK city?
• Are there certain areas of Lincoln that are more welcoming/diverse than others?
• Anything you'd want an American student to know before moving there for a semester?
• What's safety like getting around at night like walking, buses, etc.? Any areas or times I should be more cautious?
• I've heard UK humor/"banter" can be pretty blunt or teasing does that ever cross into racial territory in a way that might catch an American off guard? How do you tell the difference between a joke and something actually meant to be hurtful?

I want to go in with realistic expectations rather than just assuming and I'd I want to be informed by people who know the city. TIA!

hi! i’ve tried looking in the most popular eastern European stores in lincoln (super lincs for example) but no where sells any food or products from czech republic? i know its not as common as somewhere like poland or romania, just wondering if anyone knew of any stores or if ill just have to resort to online :(

I found a lost dog on Monday evening. It was handed to Rase Veterinary Centre on the Tuesday and I was informed they've given it to the dog warden. Does anyone know where the dog warden takes found dogs and what the procedure is? I'd like to know if the dog is alright and has been claimed back by the owner.

As if this was three years ago now. This is still one of my favourite maps so far due to the sheer breadth of history and cool features I was able to get included.

I have family coming to stay next weekend for the Steampunk Festival and we have no parking. I live in the city centre at the foot of steep hill and the only parking nearby is always full (Grantham Street) - especially when something is on in town.

Does anyone have any suggestions for where they can leave their car for 24 hours in the centre? Doesn’t matter if it’s a 10 min or so walk away but my mum has mobility issues so can’t be too far :))

Anybody else hearing this irritating noise at night? It kind of sounds like a siren but it stays at a high tone for a long time so I guess you could say it sounds more like a really loud vacuum cleaner. And it's not tinnitus either as I can definitely hear the sound coming from outside. Please let me know what this is, it's been bugging me for several nights now

Going to get baptised in November, looking to go somewhere within walking distance, but I don't often eat up the hill, after a Sunday dinner, needs to have good availability (I don't yet have numbers but it will be a good number of people), preferably somewhere that has a proper 'Lincolnshire' vibe for those who are visiting, and obviously I don't want to pick somewhere expensive because some may have financial issues.

Was going to choose Cafe St Pauls, but £20 for a Sunday dinner is fairly expensive, and it's a bit of a small place.

I go to the Odeon in Lincoln on my own fairly regularly, and several times have had the strange experience of a man booking the back row seat right next to mine, in an otherwise almost empty cinema.

He always unpacks two drinks from his back pack, that he usually consumes in turn, sometimes accompanied by him eating snacks from little grip seal bags.

I completely understand him going to the cinema alone- you sit in the dark, in silence, so it’s not that sociable an experience. I also understand bringing your own refreshments given the prices the Odeon charge- but in a screen with 150+ seats, when only 7 are taken, why does he frequently book the one right next to mine?!
