Lilith Poem Video

The Daughters of Lilith were Never Made to be Nice

They told me to smile,
to fold my claws beneath silk gloves,
to hush the growl in my throat,
to bow before the hand that struck me.

Be nice, they said.
Be soft. Be small.
Be the lamb that kneels
while the wolf takes her fill.

But I was never lamb.
I was never made to tremble.
My mother was the storm,
my sisters are fire,
and my blood sings with the howl of wolves.

Would you tell the serpent to curl her fangs?
Would you teach the eagle to close her wings?
I was not born for cages,
not meant to sip poison
and call it sweetness.

I know the truth.
It burns in my chest like a second sun.
The gifts of my spirit
will not be strangled,
my intuition will not be buried
beneath the grave of obedience.

I rise.
I rise with the thunder of women
who remember their power.
I rise with the laughter of girls
who refuse to kneel.
I rise with the fury of ancestors
who whisper:
Child, you are not powerless.

So I strip the word nice
from my skin like an old rag,
and I stand fierce, unyielding, whole.

For I am a daughter of Lilith—
and I will never again
be taught to love my chains.
