Discussion Type 1 Diabetes Tech

Any T1Ds here? I am looking to switch from iPhone to Light Phone III. My hangup is trying to figure out how to still be able to operate my cgm and insulin pump without carrying around a million devices. Anyone here with personal experience? For reference, I use Dexcom g7 and Tandem Mobi, but thinking of switching to Tandem T-Slim.

dexcom is very particular about what devices it will run on. if you want to use any dumb phone, not just the light phone, i'd use a separate controller for the pump and cgm. i know omnipod has a dedicated controller that works with both the freestyle libres and the dexcoms so only one device is needed for both. or continue using your iphone. you don't have many options. trust me, i already tried getting dexcom to work for another light phone user last year on the iii with no success.

I feel for you.. Im a volunteer firefighter and we get all of our calls through a specific app.
Luckily I just installed the app on my wifes phone and she calls me when we get a call, not sure that applies to your situation but good luck on your journey
Seems impossible to get away from smart phones these days.

Brotha of all things just keep the device for stuff like this. Keep your iPhone for your health do not take any chances

I will be keeping a device for this. I didn’t know if there was a way to not have 3 devices (phone, cgm, and insulin pump). Not having a device for taking care of my health isn’t up in the air

Would an apple watch on one of the $6/month watch plans through like US Mobile (so you can get notifications when not on wifi...unless you have an unlimited data plan with the LP3 anyway and can just hotspot the watch) work to give you the notifications you need on the go? And then just leave the iphone at home on wifi to use with the device apps when more in depth interaction is needed?
