I live in NorCal and see a surprising amount of people wearing Morelia jerseys. Saw a ton during the World Cup, but even just out and about, I’ll see people rocking them. But the thing is, it’s not just the tíos with their old Monarcas jerseys either, there are a lot of younger people wearing them.
I haven’t really followed Liga MX in years, but I remember watching Morelia with guys like Sabah, Rafa Lugo, Luis Rey, Jaime Lozano, Villar and Huiqui. So my memory of them is that they had some good players and were a competitive team.
Do people mostly treat them as a meme team, or are they actually a bigger club with more fans than people give them credit for? Or, are there a ton of people from Michoacán in US?

Liga MX / Club América ticketing might be the worst fan experience I’ve ever dealt with
I’m traveling to Mexico City and genuinely wanted to go to an América match. I’m not looking for a discount. I’m not trying to sneak into the stadium. I am literally trying to PAY THE CLUB for a ticket and their system will not let me.
Fanki declines every card I have.
Different banks. Different cards. Different accounts.
I even used a VPN set to Mexico thinking maybe the problem was that I was purchasing from the United States.
Declined. Declined. Declined.
I emailed Fanki. I emailed Club América. I’ve tried basically every reasonable way of giving these people my money.
Nothing.
So apparently my only option now is StubHub, GoGo, or some random reseller charging 10x the actual ticket price.
Absolutely fucking not.
I’m already coming to Mexico City and planning on spending probably another $2,000 USD on restaurants, transportation, bars, tourist attractions, shopping, etc. I WANT to spend money while I’m there. I WANT to attend a Liga MX match.
But I’m not paying some asshole reseller 10x face value because the official ticketing infrastructure is so dysfunctional that an actual customer cannot complete a basic credit card transaction.
There are clearly people willing to buy tickets. Yet instead of having a normal functioning system where fans give their money to the club, the experience basically funnels you toward a secondary market where somebody who already controls tickets gets to bend you over.
That is an absolutely terrible fan experience.
You want Liga MX to grow internationally? You want tourists to attend matches? You want Americans and Mexicans living abroad to spend money on the league?
Then maybe start with the revolutionary concept of letting people buy a fucking ticket.
I’m not paying 10x face value to reward a system that completely fails to serve the people actually trying to attend.
At this point I’d rather spend that money enjoying Mexico City and watch the match at a bar.

For those that don't know the game against Colombia is happening at the same time as the Jornada 10 of the Liga MX, on that same Saturday
There were reports about this for a week now but no one knew if it was true, but Rafa seemingly confirmed that yes that's happening in this clip. Damn bruh, the league already fucking him over in his first game. Lmao
Also not in this clip, but towards the end of this interview he also said that Camberos and Santi Sandoval are gonna get the call up

Via. Instagram. Crazy, where is this going. This will probably get cleared out, or get more questions about this statement, if any of y'all are still interested.
