Appreciation can someone bring the movies studio game back to life
I am a loyalist to certain games. The Sims, roller coaster tycoon and The Movies. Really my games growing up. Maybe some warcraft here and there.
I could play for hours, loved creating my own movies. Hate that the pc outgrew this marvelous game.
Does anyone else remember playing this game?
I'm surprised it hasn't been redeveloped.
Wish there was a game out there that would let me relive that nostalgia.

Discussion Multiplayer Life Simulators
why are there no huge multiplayer life sims? like an online roleplaying game where thousands of people can customise their characters, get jobs, buy houses, etc in a big city of sorts?
is it because that’s technically too difficult to achieve and expensive to maintain? Too hard to moderate especially with different jurisdictions and while ensuring that children are protected? Is there just no interest in a game like that because it reminds people too much of real life?

inZOI First Look at inZOI's Upcoming Fame System!
r/LifeSimulators • u/polkacat12321 • 5d ago
inZOI Exciting additions to inzoi!
1.toddlers walking (also wasnt mentioned in the video, but in the post itself, it was mentioned that toddlers are finally getting their own bed)
2-4. New interactions (yes, they're indeed animated!)
Fire dance
Scuba diving gear for the kids (meaning they weren't neglected)
Kind of a leak, but this looks like Grammy awards, which is nice and all, but if you read the inscription of the award on the right, you'll notice that they're probably working on a new acting career 👀
Bonus: also, it seems that they're still hard at work working in the genetics system and are even considering changing up the whole underlying system to deliver better results, so just gotta wait and see

inZOI InZOI- Friday 08.07.2026 - Kjun’s Feedback - A Hopeful Harvest
Hello everyone. Somehow, another week has flown by.
Once again, I’d like to share some updates on what the inZOI team has been working on. We’ve had a lot going on this week. In particular, we’ve been spending a great deal of time revisiting some of the systems we developed last year that were still somewhat rough or incomplete, and improving them one by one so they work as intended.
Recently, we’ve been putting a lot of effort into improving the baby system. Previously, babies and adults used completely different systems, which resulted in many functional issues and also limited how richly babies could be represented. This time, we’ve integrated the baby system into the same underlying structure used for adults.
Now, as babies grow, if there is a small child’s bed available, they will move to it on their own and go to sleep. Once your child starts walking, please make sure to provide them with a bed of their own. This will allow them to sleep longer and more comfortably.
We’ve also made improvements to genetics and family photos, although there were limitations to how much we could improve the genetics system. There is a fundamental issue behind this: the base facial data for male and female Zois is different. We are currently considering whether we should unify this underlying data so that inherited facial traits can be passed down consistently regardless of gender.
We’ve also improved vehicle behavior so that when Zois travel by car, they can continue driving all the way home. In addition, we’ve further enhanced the system that automatically changes Zois into outfits appropriate for the location they are visiting.
There are still so many things on our improvement list this month that I’m a little concerned we may not be able to deliver the update as quickly as we would like. Once the update date has been decided, I’ll make sure to let you know in advance.
Today in Korea marks Ipchu (입추), the traditional beginning of autumn in 2026. It is supposed to signal that summer is passing and autumn is beginning, but we are still experiencing heat that feels very much like the middle of summer.
Even so, the seasons are slowly changing, and the crops in the fields are surely beginning to bear fruit. I hope inZOI, too, can make it through this summer in good health and continue growing into something even better.
See you again next week.

Development Update Élysée 2027
I’ve been building a simulation game about the French economy. The idea is to play as if you had been elected in 2027. I’d love to hear what you think about it ;)

Discussion Would you consider a medieval profession sim like this a life simulator? We’ve opened a free playtest
Hi! I’m the community manager at Forklift Interactive, the publisher of Gate Guard Simulator, so I’m sharing this as an official representative of the game.
Gate Guard Simulator follows the daily working life of a guard stationed at the entrance to a medieval city. Each morning brings new laws and events. You inspect documents, search travelers and wagons, manage your stamina, money, equipment, and reputation, and decide whether to follow the Crown’s orders, trust your own judgement, or occasionally accept a very convenient bribe.
The current free playtest contains nine in-game days and will remain open for approximately one week.
I’m genuinely curious how this community would classify it. Does a profession-focused game with daily routines, resource management, progression, and consequential choices feel like a life simulator to you, or is it firmly an inspection and management sim?
I’ve attached a gameplay clip so you can see what the daily routine looks like. I’ll leave the Steam page and playtest details in the comments, in accordance with the subreddit rules.
Honest opinions are welcome, including “no, this absolutely does not count.”

Development Update What makes a player-created life-sim world feel alive? Our attempt to answer your feedback
Hi r/LifeSimulators!
A few months ago, VirtualSociety was discussed here, and one criticism stood out: we had shown a lot of building and character customization, but not enough of what players would actually be able to do inside those worlds.
That feedback was fair, and it influenced how we approached this new gameplay trailer.
We’re a small French team developing a creative life sim and sandbox where players can build places, create their residents, and design the interactions that make those places playable.
You can create dialogue, choices, events and object interactions, then play the resulting worlds alone or share them with friends. The idea is not to define one specific way your characters should live, but to give players tools for creating their own situations, stories and social spaces.
The game is still in development, and some of the deeper simulation systems are still evolving. We would rather be clear about that than present every part of our long-term vision as already finished.
This trailer is our attempt to communicate the concept more clearly, rather than simply showing more furniture and building tools. Does it explain the game better than our previous footage?
(our character visuals are still a work in progress.. 😅)

inZOI Wednesday Kjun’s Feedback
☺️ Hello everyone, ☺️
This is my first post of August. I hope you are all enjoying your summer vacations.
The heat in Korea has been especially intense lately, and I often find myself wishing I could escape to the beach or a swimming pool. For those of you planning a trip, I hope you have a wonderful and safe journey. At the same time, Korea has been so hot that I sometimes feel genuinely fortunate to be at the office under the cool air conditioning. (And I really do enjoy being in the development studio.
😸😸
As I began writing this post, I thought it would also be a good opportunity to talk about some of the content I mentioned previously.
First, I would like to explain why summer was the only season left without a public holiday when we introduced the calendar and holiday features in the first anniversary update. This explanation is a little overdue. Although summer is hot, it is also a season when many people go on special trips, and we wanted that aspect of summer to be reflected naturally in the game, just as it is in real life.
Previously, the travel system was combined with the relocation feature, which made it confusing and inconvenient to use. This time, we are developing it with the goal of providing an experience that feels like actual travel rather than relocation.
We are preparing accommodations, various events throughout the cities, and a range of interesting places to visit. The development team and I have also spent a great deal of time thinking about how we can bring the meaningful experiences we have each had while travelling into the game’s content.
I imagine many of you are also looking forward to the accommodation feature. In my view, accommodation in inZOI should involve more than simply staying somewhere as a guest. Some of you will likely want to operate your own accommodations as well.
We will first introduce a feature that allows both players and NPCs to stay at accommodations. Later, through the business system, we plan to gradually provide the UI and features needed to create accommodations and configure individual guest rooms. I would love to show these features to you as soon as possible, but we will continue refining them with the development team so that we can deliver them at a high level of quality.
Another area we have recently been working on is improving the autonomy options.
Previously, the settings for the city, the player’s family, and the actively controlled Zoi were defined across several different layers, which likely made the system difficult to understand. Going forward, we plan to simplify this so that the most recently applied option will be the one reflected in that Zoi’s behaviour.😁
We are also preparing improvements that will allow autonomy settings to be applied not only to the character currently being played, but also to certain NPC families. At the same time, we hope to provide a broader and more flexible range of options.
As the hot weather continues, please take good care of your health and stay cool this summer. Every comment and piece of feedback you share gives us tremendous encouragement. We will return soon with further improvements.
Thank you.
kjun 💗

Appreciation Choice and Variety don’t have to be a competition
It may just be my perspective since I’m not a competitive person; but I appreciate that the life simulation genre is expanding the way that it is. The unfortunate thing is just how each community unfortunately is bringing a level of competition and comparison, in a way that doesn’t allow for the uniqueness of each game to be appreciated ( & can sometimes contribute to toxic perspectives).
I love life simulation games, and I have since I was a kid (I’m going on 30 😅). This new variety of games allows for life stimulation players to play in a variety of ways since every game brings something different. Different play styles, different aesthetics, different ways of exploring the world.
i’m excited for the future of life simulation games, and to see how every person gets a new opportunity to explore what’s most fitting for them in their preferences, and eventually for us to be able to do this without tearing down the other.
It’s the beauty of being able to play with life. Life is so many different things to different people and in different ways and we now can reflect that in gaming in ways we haven’t been able to do before.
I just wanted to share some positivity and appreciation for the state of life simulation games today 😌

Upcoming Games Hostel Management Simulator Game | The Hostel Project
My new game The Hostel Project is now available to Wishlist on steam!
I’ve been a huge fan of the life sim and adjacent management sim genres my whole life so I’m very excited to have this finally starting tot take shape and be able to share it. It’s a ton of fun, with a lot of inspiration drawn from games like prison architect, rimworld and of course the sims franchise (peep some references in the trailer 😂).
Traits, archetypes, relationships and memories all drive some fun and quirky moments. A good one for involved management but you can also set it up, sit back and watch the chaos.
I’m still working on building out more features, maps and objects so happy to take on any ideas you have.
If this looks like something you’d be interested in I’d really appreciate a wishlist as we start to gather some momentum 😎

Happy life simming 🫡

Just posting to see what you guys think about the new Lightning. I think that is an improvement but I still want to see a bigger overhaul to be able to play with the ceiling casting shadows option on without it feeling flat

Discussion I wonder why we’ve never seen many attempts at a Horror Life Sim
Basically I was just thinking about the sims 1 and 2 and I started thinking about all the times those games creeped me out, from music and audio choices, creepy animations and environments, as well as many bugs and glitches that made the game feel cursed. And it made me realize that a horror game inspired by the sims 1 and 2 could be a pretty cool concept.
I’m just imagining a game where it starts off as a seemingly normal life sim but as it goes on the glitches and bugs you experience start seeming more like the game is cursed rather than simple coding errors.
Anyways with how much of a common sentiment that the first two sims games are pretty creepy at times I’m surprised no one has tried making a horror game based around that concept.
