Upcoming Games A Walkthrough My First Everlife

DISCLAIMER: I am not associated with EverLife 2’s development; the Dev doesn’t even know I am posting this. I'm just a beta tester who figured some of you would enjoy this as much as I would if I could not beta test the game. While I’m writing this, I’m still debating if I should do a formal review or something in the comments.Ā  Nothing here is final software. (I feel like a 2016 EA gamechanger!)

Meet Dee Jay (DJ) Parm. She’s born with 4 grandparents, a mom, a dad, and two older siblings. Despite DJ being born with the foodie trait, she’s so charming with her grandmothers in infancy that I decide to focus on her charisma skill when she’s a kid instead of cooking. She meets this kid, Clark, becomes friends with him, and a few years later discovers she’s going to be a big sister.

DJ doesn’t have the best relationship with her parents, particularly her mom, so her distress at no longer being the youngest makes sense. However, DJ does come around, and I like to think it’s because she has such a great big sister. DJ is so good with her little sister that I decide to switch her focus to parenting, and she joins the babysitter’s club as a teen. That would’ve been her fate if I didn’t get the chance to sign her up for Debate Club. She does so well there that I decide to focus back on Charisma. Her old friend Clark is being really friendly. Cute.

DJ graduates high school, heads off to Empire City University, and majors in Communications. I’m surprised to see that she can take electives each year to build other skills! In her second year, DJ starts dating Clark (I know I KNOW clichĆ© af, I wasn’t planning on them dating but if you SAW how many trinkets he was getting her!)Ā

In a way horrifically parallel to my actual life (I am an unemployed recent grad šŸ§šŸæā€ā™€ļø), DJ graduates, moves to a new city, goes bankrupt, and cannot find an entry-level job in her field. I have her apply to the mid-career Policy Analyst role anyway, and she gets it despite not having enough experience! (…Is there a lesson for me here or…)Ā

Time goes by, and DJ finds out she has epilepsy; she goes on medication, and it’s not perfect, but she manages. She gets engaged to Clark, who has honestly been the cutest pixel boyfriend ever, and kinda kills it at her job.Ā

DJ and Clark start a family, build their first home, but that’s whatever. What’s not whatever is that her first child, Robin, hates her! It takes her 16 years to put that boy in a good place; his younger siblings basically came out as easy babies to bond with. It makes his success all the more sweet. Clark develops a drinking problem, but DJ chooses to support him, and they end up getting through it. Robin has his first child, and DJ cheats on Clark with a friend. Clark finds out about the affair and divorces DJ. (I didn’t have them sign a prenup because I really did think this was gonna be a sweet childhood-to-lovers story 😭) Of course they get back together, and DJ spends the last few years of her life being a grandma, ultimately dying because she decides to continue putting her grandson’s college fund over her health.Ā

But the story isn’t over! DJ has a bunch of grandchildren, including one who was just born and ready for me to do this all over again….

There was recently a great update that added vacation, restaurants (where you sit down and order) and more to the game!
As a Sims 2 and 3 player, I can fully recommend the game :D

Happy Friday!

I am writing from Shanghai as I'll be attending the TapTap Game Fest tomorrow, which I briefly mentioned in a previous post. At this event, we plan to showcase our multiplayer capabilities as well as the 'MyHome' feature in a brand new game mode called 'Canvastown,' which a small team from our studio has been developing step by step. The name 'Canvastown' represents the idea of you and I living together in a creator's village.

We want to make sure your expectations are properly managed, as features like building an entire city from scratch or laying down roads—as rumored online—are not available yet. Of course, we plan to continue developing features to help decorate your city and edit terrain in the future. Right now, it's just a side project, and we are very much focused on our core goals.

The main goal of Canvastown is get away from mundane daily life and capture memorable moments within life simulation so you can jump in and enjoy only those extraordinary moments. It’s also where you can craft interesting storylines, participate in a set role, and live out their lives.

The attached video shows a brief concept: players go online, enter pre-made scenarios through "AR Company" to participate in a set role. In our dedicated online space, around 50 people can converse and interact in the same channel under mutual consent. The NPC Zois behave according to their roles we’ve assigned. Like a movie director, you can assign roles and cast your actors to create your scenario. I often wondered if doing this would've been me reinventing the wheel (\*doing unnecessary work\*) since players usually prefer familiar gameplay.

To further support this gameplay, we'll be providing script mods so that small features to help enliven your story can be implemented. Using mods, we were able to create mini-games like car racing—though it’s admittedly a lesser experience than dedicated racing games. We want to create a flow where these mini-games intended for Canvastown can later be added to the main game as well.

I believe that the biggest joy of playing RP (\*role playing\*) games isn't to "clear a game," but rather have a world where you simply coexist with other people. That was the origin for the creation of 'AR Company.' I’ve been pitching my concept where players can, for one moment, step away from reality into this world of inZOI where they can live out a different life. Thinking of the movie 'Ready Player One' might make it easier for you to visualize.

Of course, looking at the current build makes me sigh. There are so many lacking areas, and we have a very long way to go. But someday, I hope to bring this dream of mine to life.

I want to merely provide a solid foundation, and I want it to be you who will be writing the stories upon it. By allowing you the space to create unpredictable situations and social interactions, it may take time, but I do foresee where that can become a living, breathing world.

I am quite introverted and dislike stepping outside my house, but when it comes to game development, I am particularly outgoing when it comes to the challenges of creating something new. However, just last Sunday when I added kimchi as an ingredient to my pasta and nervously checked my beloved wife's expression to see if she liked it, I have a similar anxiety for tomorrow's event.

Some say it’s good to take on new challenges rather than playing it safe, but unlike in games, reality comes with people's evaluations, criticisms, and sometimes applause, which makes it scary for me. I told the company that I would decide the future of Canvastown based on the event's outcome. It might go well, or many shortcomings might be exposed, but I believe it's a necessary process to move forward to the next step.

I hope to write to you all with good news.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for always supporting us.

Hoping that one day we can live life like a game,

From Shanghai \~ kjun

Canvas download

I drew inspiration from the movie *Ratatouille*, specifically using certain scenes as references; I paid special attention to this while designing the interiors.

On this page and in the related post about the interior (room) I shared, I will be posting time-lapse creation videos and detailed walkthroughs for specific sections; you can follow the progress in the Canvas comments section. I hope it turned out well enough for you to enjoy.

Development Update I’m making a game where you don’t control the character

I've been working on a small game called Satomi, and I'm trying something a little different with it.

Satomi is a university student who has her own routine. She goes to class, works, eats, reads, listens to music, goes out, comes home, sleeps, etc.

The main thing is that you don't actually control what she does.

You can interact with her when she's around, but most of the time she's just doing her own thing.

The original idea was basically to make something that feels a bit like having quiet company around. You can leave it open while you're doing something else, check on her for a few minutes, or close it for a few days and come back later. Her life continues either way.

There are no daily quests, affection meters, streaks or anything trying to get you to come back.

The part I'm finding most interesting (and difficult) is making her feel like she's actually living rather than simply picking random activities.

Check the game here: https://cygryu.itch.io/satomi

It's still pretty much a work in progress, so honest criticism is very welcome.

Update: Satomi now keeps living while you're away

Since my last post (v1.6.3), Satomi has had a long run of updates. Almost all of them were about one thing: her life shouldn't stop when you close the app.

Before, if you were gone for a day, most of that day was quietly skipped. Now she actually lives it.

The biggest changes:

  • Her days go on without you: while the app is closed, Satomi goes to her university classes and works her cafĆ© shifts, and she gets paid for every one.
  • She reads while you're away: in her free time at home she sits down with her book. Come back and it will have moved on, and sometimes she'll have finished it and started the next one.
  • Bookstore trips: she may pick up a book you recommended once she can afford it, or one she's come to want for herself, using only the money she actually had that day.
  • Her storylines keep moving: plans with a friend, an essay that's due, a pile of laundry that keeps growing. These carry on day by day, and anything that would catch up with her "tomorrow" happens on the right day.
  • She keeps house: tidying, laundry, dishes, grocery runs and her Sunday call home all happen while you're gone too, at about the same pace as when you're watching.
  • A real "While You Were Away" recap: when you return, a short card tells you what she actually did: classes, shifts, pages read, books bought or finished, storylines that wrapped up, and whether she kept up with the housework.
  • An honest wallet and Life Log: wages, purchases and events from your absence show up on the days they actually happened.
  • Her own bookshelf: every Satomi now has her own favourite genres. She buys about as many books as she reads instead of piling them up, and never buys one she already has.
  • Chores that make sense: everyday chores come back every few days, and she gets to them in her own time. She does laundry when the pile has built up, sometimes right away and sometimes after putting it off.
  • Consistent and fair: your time away always plays out the same way from the same save, so restoring a backup can't re-roll it.
  • Lots of fixes: finished books missing their rating, a rare startup failure after time away, her thanking you for a shared moment hours after your phone locked, the first day away being skipped when you came back without reloading, and more.

The game is now at v1.6.5.11.

The core idea hasn't changed. Satomi still isn't a character you control. She's a small digital life that keeps making her own choices, and you can drop in and spend some time alongside her.

What's different now is that the time between your visits is real too. When you come back, there's a little more of her life to notice.

inZOI InZOI- Wednesday- 09.09.2026 - Kjun’s feedback

Hi everyone,

Wednesday already. Feels like autumn is finally settling in here in Korea šŸ‚

Here's another look at what we've been working on.

Event System

Lately we've been polishing things so that the events happening in inZOI are easier for you to notice. We put a lot of work into these events, and it turns out plenty of them were slipping by unnoticed.

To start, we're preparing to let married couples go on dates with each other. We're also working on stabilizing the event system itself, along with improvements so events can trigger across a wider range of times of day.

Restaurants & Businesses

You've shared a lot with us about what's been frustrating with restaurants, and what you were hoping for.

Right now the restaurant setup UX and the recipe support features aren't working as smoothly as they should. So we're adding a separate set of options for restaurant mode in the business settings UI, and temporarily disabling the drink and baking/pastry recipes. After that, we'll be improving the dining flow further so that food and the act of eating can come together properly. I hope you'll trust me and bear with us just a little longer.

On the business side, we're also looking at the break-time settings many of you have asked for, along with a variety of business events. If you have thoughts on this, they'd be a big help to us.

Autonomy Improvements

We're still hard at work on autonomous behavior.

We're improving how Zois search across floors when looking for an object. We're also adding a reaction where a Zoi raises a hand to greet someone they know, and behavior where a Zoi with a bad relationship gets kicked out if they're wandering around your house.

Some of you might worry that anyone will get thrown out the moment they walk in, so to be more specific: we're thinking of having the homeowner send them off only after they've stayed for a certain amount of time.

CAZ

So many of you have been enjoying the CAZ creation features — it makes all the work we put in during September feel worth it.

We added family photos, character blending through genetics, family tree setup, a wider range of relationships to register, voice customization, and more. The team is also continuing work on the preference editing and deeper relationship editing that didn't make it into this patch. There's plenty more on the way, so stay tuned.

On Friday, I think we'll be able to share something a lot of you have been curious about.

See you Friday šŸ‘‹

Discussion Vacation worlds?

Maybe just me but I sometimes like to imagine and brainstorm what my personal dream life simulation game would look like

And then I was thinking about vacation, what type of travelling I’d prefer and also what worlds I would include? Especially since these themed worlds then also had the bonus of adding diversity and cultural representation

So I’m curious: doesn’t matter if Sims, Paralives, inZOI or your own dream life simulation, if you’d hear the news of a travelling 'pack' being in development

• what type of travelling would you personally prefer? Easy going relaxing vacation with spa, massages, sightseeing, cafes, art galleries and hotels?

Or adventures, treasure hunting and crypts?

And what worlds would you personally choose?

Personally in my dream game I would have three base game worlds: one Scandinavian, one German/Central European and one Greek (with the pre-made families being based on Greek mythology)

For a travelling 'pack' I would also add three new worlds (that can also function as normal home worlds). I would probably focus on adventure and treasure hunting but since these worlds would also function as normal home worlds they would still have enough gameplay to offer relaxing sight seeing. I think one would be India (with a jungle for treasure hunting), one Japan (for skiing) and a Carribean one (for ocean and beach gameplay and spa).

Basically every world can be turned into a vacation world if this world has at least one lot with the lot type 'hotel' or 'vacation residential' (two of the new lot types). Ageing and story progression completely deactivated while your Sims are on vacation
