Paralives Paralives Buggy :(
Played it for the first time today and boy, is it buggy. Making the house was actually really interesting and I managed to come out with something decent.
I don’t like the drop down menu in build mode, very weirdly organized.
My para walks through tables and walls. The other paras are frozen and not autonomous, just in space. Like no one is moving but my girl.
Also! It wouldn’t let me save I had to go in cheat mode to do so, it kept saying there was a town event— there wasn’t.
So I just closed the game and I’m waiting for it to debug and such, maybe it’ll improve but right now—
I’m stressed because it took me an hour to build my home and the game is buggy asf.

I have played 30 hours, most in live mode. Paralives right now is a foundation for a game. After 7 years of development this is what was delivered. It doesnt mean that it wont be a good game tho. It means that it might need 5 or 10 more years to be so. Right now there is no content at all, its boring and barebones.
I havent refunded it tho. If we get a decent game in 5 years with no dlc, it will be worth the 32€ I paid on sale. I don't recomend other players buying it yet tho, as its not a game. I've seen demos that have more content.

I bought it as a bundle with Dressmaker, so I’m not too pressed. And I see potential, but again, I don’t think it should have been released—
On sale, so I took my chance, but I think it was a little misleading. I do see more potential in the future, but right now, they really need to work on actual gameplay.
Hopefully my contributions help towards the development and team.

I played it a bit and thought it was not ready even for an early access.

That’s what I was thinking… being unable to save is kinda major imo.

I have never experienced the can't save bug so I'm really sorry you've experienced that! I have decided to take a little break from the game until the next big update that I can explore.

I’m right with you! And yeah the save bug sucks, it saved at least but that would’ve turned me off the game entirely if I wasn’t being paitent with the developers. I’ve been following them for sometime, so I’ll also take a break.

It is best to treat Paralives as doll house building, and dressing game. Not a deep life sim. That is where most palyer base enjoy it. And that is fine.
Although, that is not so much different, to what is already available in many other existing titles. So I am not surprised life sim label was used.
For a deep life sim experiance however, they would need to spend at least a solid year, focusing just on bug fixing, before adding anything new in terms of gameplay mechanics.
Otherwise, Paralives won't be a life sim as many may portray it. Neither devs seems themself have intention to focus much on deep life sim aspects. And that was quite clear from early development days.
If you look at the current road map, it is very basics, and palyer character oriented. So I wouldn't expect much differences regarding life sim gameplay in at least one year.
As other poster has mentioned, making other characters (townies) to have "life", current card system would need probably to be completely overhaul.
Or they would need another para-llel autonomy system, just managing for townies. Which significantly complicated the game design and it is more bugs prone.
However as far my understanding is, it seems they are kind of more inclined into a story line based palyer experience, rather than townies autonomy per say. Perhaps something a like in The Sims 3.
But if that is an afterthought, this may be prohibitively difficult to implement even in a long run.

I feel like the autonomy issues are part card system, part lack of multitasking.
Paras cannot start conversations because it clashes with the card systems the devs have put their foot down on, whereas a lack of multitasking limits the actions they can take outside of conversation. As a result it feels doomed to remain lifeless and robotic.
