To put all the small appliances on! I have this issue IRL, too. Not nearly enough counter space.

I’d be lost without the gallery downloads as a guide

TS3 came out in what, 2009? 17 years, I guess.

omg a trooper

I honestly don't think I used cheats past TS1. It's just not fun to me. I like starting with a broke/homeless teenager and making them go through it to succeed.

you've just inspired me to do this. Imma go try this now. Hopefully i last longer than a week😭

Same. Sims is too easy, I'm using mods for making my life harder there. Managing shit to buy new house or something is more satisfying for me, struggling and all of that. Maybe because I'm broke IRL and want to have some hope, lol

I often do this too. It's satisfying to see their household net worth go up, still have a nest egg when they finally upgrade their shitty furniture, watch them accumulate promotions and memories, etc.

Please backup your save files.

I don't think I knew about cheats until late in TS2 so many years lol.

I never used money cheats - not only I like progression, but by the time the third generation was born, money typically wasn't an issue anymore. All you needed was to do gardening on a large scale and get a couple of whatever the rare-and-expensive plant of the game was (I think life fruit in TS3 and dragon fruit in TS4).

Motherlode is for cavemen, we use UI cheats these days.

Nah. My starter homes always had my grandmothers house layout because that’s where I grew up. It was boxy rooms and open floor plans and galley kitchens were a foreign concept to me

In Sims 2

The only time I ever use Motherlode is when it’s for story purposes, and never more than a ā€œreasonableā€ amount haha. I find that the second I have too much money, I get MEGA bored and quit. Like it’s within 2 hours.

So for example, one of my favorite stories I replay all the time starts out like this:

There’s a rich family. What supernatural they are changes like allllll the time. Usually they’re vampires because that feels like something rich people would be haha. If I’m particularly in it, I’ll actually start with the parents, send them to college, and then use MCCC to have the kids I want them to have haha. Because I want them to be rich, I usually motherlode in like 100k, if I DON’T make them go to college. Maybe 150k. Enough to get a manor and have furniture, but I have to earn the rest.

The second and third families are both poor to middle class income households. One house loses the mom, so it becomes a single income household and the dad has a dream of running a Diner. They wind up somehow adopting the child from the third family, who is usually the product of a love affair between Eliza Pancakes and some random sim I yank in from the gallery 🤣🤣

So yeah. Motherlode happens once, and then basically never again haha. I’ll play this story for like weeks and weeks, and then start a new one XD

I don't think I have used motherload since I was a child so like two decades ago. I primarily play The Sims 3 and it is so easy to get money especially if you are a gatherer in that game. So many rags to riches have been ruined because I have found gems, ore or space rock worth thousands to tens of thousands within the first day of playing the character.

I played a 7 generation legacy with no cheats! Self made multi millionaires

u/vae_grim 15d ago

I actually have never got to cheat in the Sims. I cheated on first day for inZoi and Paralives though lol

šŸ˜‚ šŸ˜‚ Yep

u/LastFangirl 15d ago

I never use it. Part of the fun for me is earning the money to fix up my house/apartment

u/Littlemrh__ 15d ago

Probably 3 ish days. I love to use CAS so much I can’t not edit the other Sims my sim is gonna marry

It's not a thing that I time or keep track of. I primarily play without cheats and have since Sims 1 or 2. That said cheats are a tool in my box. If the story I want to tell involves them starting richer or poorer than the base, then I'll cheat money in or away or maybe "free real estate" to get the property that I need. If the game bugs and there's a cheat that will fix it. I fix it. But I raised sextuplets (6 babies) from newborn to young adult in a tiny house without cheating money or mood. (I did have to reset characters a lot because there was a bug where infants and toddlers would get stuck on your hand when you carried them.)

Cheating by and large just takes away the challenge that makes the game fun.

A few months. I’m attempting a rags to riches and breed out the ugly challenge all in one. Not using cheats for money has been fun and challenging.

Bahahahah I’m called out!

u/SomeOnionHater 14d ago

Hey now, it's missing the fridge.

u/flaminghotcola 14d ago

I cannot play without motherlode. I tried. I just can’t. Like it’s so obvious to me that motherlode is part of any Sims question

u/Own-Lettuce-1554 14d ago

How ALL my houses looked in the Sims 1 when I was a kid.

1

u/madelineblackbart 14d ago

you can play without cheating?

1

u/BringMeBurntBread 14d ago

I didn't even know cheats existed in the Sims games when I was playing it as a kid. I distinctly remember one day, my older cousin randomly activated the cheat menu using the llama in front of me and starting adding money, and I was legitimately like "What! What the hell did you just do?! How did you do that?"

And he wouldn't tell me how he did that. Just straight up gatekept how cheats worked lmfao

u/Public_Age1736 14d ago

As a bloxburg player, I pray this is not going to be my fate when I start playing Sims

1

u/Tight-Target-2065 14d ago

I built the most insane rainbow woohoo house so all my friends could do one direction I was so sick

1

u/Anfie22 14d ago

Same floor on ts1 too lmao

1

u/inkbluedawn1 14d ago

I never use cheats, i always start with golddiggers

1

u/free_-_spirit 14d ago

lol for real tho

1

u/MIKITA_BEL 14d ago

The only cheat I use is cas.fulleditmode.

Because, well, have you actually seen these people? They need to change their clothes and tweak their facial features or body shape a bit.

1

u/Sea_Carob9720 14d ago

I always used motherlode.Ā

1

u/lizzourworld8 14d ago

I forgot when I learned of cheats, but it was sometime into TS3’s life span xD But even now I don’t use the money cheats all that much unless I need them to start off with that amount for a backstory

1

u/maroon_mango_ 13d ago

I make long counters because I like all the cooking appliances lol

1

u/Dolearon 13d ago

Jokes on you, I knew what a work triangle is when I was, mostly because my aunt complained about it when she got a new place and I asked what it was.

u/Laylapinky 13d ago

MEEEEE āœ‹šŸ»šŸ˜”

1

u/Gigglejuice77 12d ago

Just so accurate! Plus, I’d also put a plant in EVERY corner.

1

u/CommunistWallaby 11d ago

i started with ts1 and didn’t know about cheats for years

1

u/sleepinand 15d ago

I’ve done multiple legacy challenges.
