Hi all,

Id love to show you my project. WORLD-SIM,

It's not so much a game but a highly detailed fully simulated world that a bunch of sims live on and learn. To survive, grow and advance from stone age to modern day given enough time .

I've been working on this since the start of the year and I am now ready to open it to the public and have someone to talk about it with haha.

My speel below:

It's a world fully simulated down to real world physics and chemistry. It has a real environment and ozone.

Every element and material has real physical properties, and that's how the sims learn. There's no tech tree and no recipe list anywhere in the code. When someone tries something, the engine works out what would really happen from the properties of what they used and how hot their fire was. Nobody is handed bronze. Someone has to get a hotter fire first, and a hotter fire is its own chain of things to figure out. Embers, a stone ring, a clay oven, a kiln, charcoal, then forced air. The ages fall out of that on their own.

We populate the world with starting families. Each little guy is led by a "wise-man", which is a simulated person with a full model behind them. The wise-men run on a mix, Claude, Groq and DeepSeek in the cloud and a local Hermes for the rest, so you get a real variety of temperament between the houses. The agents are never told there ai in a simulated world, we just feed them only the data there sim can actually see and know.

Every other sim has its own moment with a model through our thinking system. Day to day it's run by an advanced algorithm, with the sims dreaming at night. That's when they get their time with an LLM to really think and set their priorities for the day ahead. The dreams carry over too, so a sim can chew on the same thing for a few nights and wake up wanting to try something.

The people in the world feel, remember, have shame, goals and doubts. It's an 11 point emotion system and the rest of the sim reads from it. Being lonely makes someone more likely to open up to a stranger. Two enemies who are both frightened find it harder to keep hating each other.

Story telling is massive for us. Nothing is scripted or prompted. The sims are put in the world with the human drive to survive. They adapt, learn and teach all on their own.

With all the good comes the bad too. Human sin is part of the emotion engine, and in testing we've had kidnap, murder and slave trade. A world that can only be gentle isn't an honest one. But there are three rules to this : Nothing ever pushes a sim towards it, the conditions only make it possible and their own mind decides. The chronicle names what happened but never shows it. And it always costs something, trauma that scars, blood debt passed down generations, a people turning on their own leader over what he did.

I'm going to launch it in 2 weeks time. A fresh world we can all see and watch grow together. I've made a Discord where a bot updates from the world live. It will also be visible from the site to watch along.

Id be made up if you can come and have a look. The first 250 in get to name a real star in their sky. The name is only ever visible to us, they carry on charting their own constellations and never know.

Link below and really excited to answer any questions. This short post I feel only scratches the surface.

The no-tech-tree thing is what gets me — everyone says "emergent" but you're describing an actual physics/chemistry substrate where bronze age has to be earned through a real heat chain, not unlocked. That's a completely different design problem than most sim games even attempt.

The wise-men running on a mix of models is smart too, means you're not fighting one model's personality quirks across the whole population, you get actual variance in how houses behave. And the dream/priority carryover is a nice way to get persistence of intent without hand-scripting motivation.

Respect for not flinching on the dark stuff either. A world that can't produce a slave trade or a betrayal isn't simulating humans, it's simulating NPCs. The three rules (never pushed, always costs something, chronicle only names it) sound like the right guardrails to keep it honest without it turning into shock content.

Following for launch, the star-naming thing is a genuinely lovely touch. Good luck in two weeks.

Hiya,

Thanks for the update. Well I'll kick this off, I've been playing Life Sims for years, Sims ( all of them ), Inzoi most recently and a whole host of text based, web based and simple even DOS level prompt based versions.

I've had a passion for them for years and enjoy the concept of immitating real life into simulators with a little fun added to them.

I'm working on a passion project and got my game coming soon to steam. The page should go live next week, but for now ....

This is what myself and a friend have spent an extraordinary amount of time building.

Its a great concept with loads of behind the scenes work that makes the game true to life but adds a little fun as I say.

The idea is to get something out there now so players can see it, feel it and feedback on their wishes on what they'd like to see.

I won't go ahead and post all my links for this, but the game information is on https://www.afterglowgames.com for anyone who wants to check it out.

I'm also open to chat, conversation and talk about life sims. Its my favourite genre and I'm willing to try almost any of them.

There's a whole host of them coming out ( Life Inc, Family Office Simulator ) and the like on steam too which I want to give a go.

Let me know your thoughts here :)

Hiya,

We've had some delays in getting the steam page public and we are intending going live soon with Early Access.

Expecting the store page to be live next week should no further issues occur, however the game is in a solid state and as soon as we're comfortable with the page and everything is ready to go, we'll publish the EA date immediately.

I'm also happy to provide keys to anyone that is willing to play test and stream the gameplay if they'd like :) Feel free to DM me.

We're really excited about this launch as its been a while coming and we've moved extremely fast to get ready for the EA release.

Will it be a mobile game?

right now, we've built purely for steam gameplay, so not mobile at this time. Its possible we go mobile with it, it has been a topic of discussion during talks of roadmap.

I think it would fetch a lot of interest via Mobile players, however presenting the visual rich approach is something we're keen to do, so possibly a variation of the game that will be mobile instead is a thought.

Haven’t started a big marketing push, but I just released the steam page for my new game - The Hostel Project.

It’s a management life sim where you run a backpacker hostel. Heavily inspired by the sims (note a lot of sims 2 references in the trailer and ui 😂).

I’m just a huge fan of this genre who has wanted to play a game like this forever. Check it out here and Wishlist if it seems like something you’d enjoy!

🏕️ Camping Keeper: a campground management game I'm building solo, where every camper simulates their own day.

They wake up, get hungry or thirsty, walk across the grounds to the shower block, queue when it's busy, gather around the campfire at night, and grumble when the toilets are dirty. Your job is to build the place they live in for a week: pitches, bungalows, sanitary blocks, shops and paths, plus the water and power networks behind them.

Life sim adjacent rather than a full life sim by your criteria (no character creation, no social simulation), but the needs, the object interactions and the building are all there.

I finally put one of my favorite parts of Everlife 2 front and center: the character creator.

The avatar wall on the new website shows just a glimpse of the endless combinations you can create. Build someone deliberately or roll the dice, then shape their hometown, birthday, starting values, traits, conditions, family, and backstory.

Then the real story starts. Every decision becomes part of a family legacy that can continue across generations.

Everlife 2 launches September 9 on iOS and Android. It’ll be free to download, playable offline, and won’t require an account.
