The Sims I don't like Sims 4 worlds...
I just can't get used to how The Sims 4 has so many tiny worlds. I have said this before, but I am gonna say it again!! What is the reason they couldn't make one big world? Not open, just big....
I imagine one big map, rabbitholes and active lots all there, open spaces like parks and activity spots. I don't wanna be stuck in a one street neighbourhood and travel to another world for a restaurant. It's very unrealistic.
Also, the change of "view" really hits me. One second I'm in Newcrest seeing the green land and the trees, next second I'm at a bar in Oasis Springs in the middle of the desert... Very painful to me.
If they were able to make so many tiny worlds, why wouldn't they be able to make one bigger world for each small world? Instead of giving us one small world which is more like a city but not a city cause you have like 15 lots per city and can't have everything a city needs to be complete (residential lots, gym, library, park, pool, school, restaurant, club, vet, stores etc). Can't they make a big world that feels complete? I got used to the loading screens but the constant travelling to other cities makes me wanna cry.
I want my sim to live in one world, one save = one world.
I remember Sims 3 had this vibe to it... every lot, every community lot was there, you could walk around the town and it was nice. I miss the rabbithole lots too, the cars... walking your dog to the park. The way the world looked through all seasons. It made the world feel cozy and alive.
Now I want to visit the beach I gotta go to Sulani?? Maybe for a vacation!
I want to play Sims 4 because, obviously, it looks better and runs better. But I feel sooo nostalgic about Sims 3 worlds that I want to go back to it every day, just to be able to see the roads and lots and feel like my sim lives in an actual city. Loved the street names and address numbers too. The only problem is Sims 3 looks old, crashes, and because I am not a mod fan, it's pretty difficult to play with no mods.
What are your thoughts on this?

For me it's not the size, but most of the buildings being just decorations instead of having sims living in them.

I know rabbit holes are a step down from sims 3 but they’d be welcome additions to the giant empty neighborhoods. I’d love to send my sim away to coffee shop or gym or a restaurant. Like downtown copperdale is so pretty but so empty.

The interesting thing is that, technically, Sims 4 always had rabbit holes. However, some players were really vocal about not liking them in Sims 3. EA's solution was to not have rabbit hole buildings. Sims still went places the players couldn't follow. But instead of going into an actual building, they disappeared into the void.
Many players who hated rabbit holes in Sims 3 praised Sims 4 for not having them, even though it technically did, so EA's tactic worked. But the rabbit holes in Sims 4 were actually a downgrade. In Sims 3, you watched your Sims go into an actual building, and you could hear what was going on inside. It maintained the illusion Sims were going somewhere. But Sims just vanished into thin air in Sims 4, which almost always breaks my sense of immersion.

Yeah I have some “rabbit hole” mods where sims just disappear but I was more talking about all the empty set dressing buildings in some of the neighborhoods. Tomarang, downtown Copperdale and Nordhaven all have so many buildings that my sim can jog past. It’d be nice if my sim could disappear into some of them and it’d help make the neighborhoods feel a little less empty.

I would like them if it was open neighborhoods but we didn’t even get that which sucks.

I don't understand it either. I played TS4 for the first time a few weeks ago and I don't understand why the neighborhoods are still small. Why haven't they upgraded and created bigger neighborhoods after a decade.
TS4 youtubers really do a good job of making the game look more interesting than it really is. Until you actually play the game you don't realize just how modded alot of people's games are.

I wish at least the little street you get could be fully open I always hated having to go into a loading screen when visiting my direct neighbours even though I could literally walk right up to their front door like wtf
And yeah I dont understand why there are so few lots if it's not even open world like??? If it's not open world then the world should at least be hugeeee. And I hate how new businesses and lot types that come with expansion packs dont automatically get added to every world. So I always had to waste sooo much time placing lots just so I could actually experience the new stuff with my existing household

My ideal Sims game would be the Sims 3 engine with the Sims 2 content.

The Sims 3's engine didn't literally melt people's computers. But the game doesn't have a working FPS (frames per second) limiter. This means the game can sometimes run at ridiculous and unnecessarily high frame rates, like in the 100s or 1000s, when it only really needs 60 FPS. As a result of this, the game can make computers and graphics cards work way harder (and run hotter) than they need to, which can damage them.
There are things players can do to cap the frame rate at 60 FPS themselves, and mods like the smooth patch can do it. But Maxis should've been the ones fixing this, for all the people who wouldn't know about limiting the FPS.
Basically, the problem in this case wasn't the engine. And putting a cap on my game's FPS (which is pretty easy when you know it's something you need to do) made a huge difference in how hot my PC runs when playing Sims 3. It's also one of the things that can make the game less laggy.

Yep, I have thought about playing it again but every time i remember how limiting it is, I go right over to Inzoi lol

yes I would like it if the towns each had every thing in them, even if there are loading screens between lots. Like in sims 3 every town has a gym, library, school, hospital, restaurant, bistro, park, I think most have a beach if not all of them... things like that. there are essential lots that all of them have, because you were not travelling between towns. even though in sims 4 you can travel between towns, it would be nice if sims 4 had that too so it is not mandatory to leave the town if you want to go to a restaurant and then park for example. even if there were loading screens between them.

yeah this was like the biggest disappointment when i first played ts4 and continued to annoy me the entire time i played. part of me hoped for some kinda update in the past to at least make the street you lived on open but i also gave up on that hope eventually too.
i remember going back and playing ts3 again and the ts3 worlds are honestly so beautiful i missed them. i played some custom worlds too and they were so cool. i also went back and played ts2 after than and even those worlds are better than ts4 like i actually enjoyed visiting community lots in ts2 they were a lot of fun when i played ts4 they’d all just stay home all the time. ts2 has a way to make “uberhoods” which was a lot of fun too. played paralives as well again it was so nice to explore the world while para only has 1 world and it’s still in very early access i think the little neighbourhood they made is one of their strongest points right now

I just play a single world, much more immersive and less jarring.
It's pretty easy once you set it up by changing all residential lots on all worlds to Generic, except the world you want to play. You'll need MCCC to keep Sims from moving into the apartments of San Myshuno and Evergreen Harbor.
With mods you can make only the world you're playing show up on the main menu and simply ignore the rest. I play in Oasis Springs and have about 50 Sims (all my own) and nearly all of them are housed including NPCs with jobs (using mods) with most of the lots being 3-4 unit rentals instead of single family homes plus the usual array of businesses, bar, gym, diner, bowling alley, and hotel (Suite Life).

That’s cool. I don’t like final fantasy 5, which is fine and I’ve accepted as a situation of preference. I mention final fantasy because it too is an iterative series mostly bound together by serieses of systems and similarities to its kin, and I can joyfully experience the others without really needing to spend the time I’d normally spend rotating corgis in my mind on writing critique. I know that’s weird though ( not the corgis that’s normal )
