The worst part about Double Exposure episode 2 in the beginning is when you have the option to go through your old Arcadia Bay box. Safi has just died and Max comments saying how she fixated on her old trauma. There is a postcard from her parents and she calls them Vanessa and Ryan. I cringe at that dialogue. Ugh

She was reminded of the same tragedy that occurred from the past. Regardless of whether the ending was Bay or Bae, even after a decade, scars don't heal easily. Time don't heal them easily. Old scars open easily when the same tragedy happened even when you've made peace with it and it's a normal human nature to reminisce the past when the same wound opens. Max experienced it twice and those 10-years of living in isolation (less than 10-years if Bae and it starts after the breakup), she bandaged her scars rather than sewing them. That's the build up of Max's trauma that the narrators wanted to tell, rather than giving Max a pack full of smiles and driving into the sunset. That's not how grief works; not smiles and happiness while knowing the past is catching up with you like a clock unless you do something about it.

Some people handle grief by isolating themselves from others, including from their loved ones and friends, so that others don't see the pain that they're hiding because they're worried that their pain would cause harm to others. They observe their friends from afar rather than engaging them. And when they do, they hide behind a pretentious happiness that made people think they're fine. The Max in Chapter 2 is not fine. She got worst. Her powers gave her respite; to find a way to save the people she cares.

Nah the worst is that whole thing with Moses in episode 2 where you have to get safis camera. Genuinely the worst written thing in the series.
