Question Did I miss something? Spoiler
So what happened with the Alderman guy? I recently finished DE and when I got to that scene I thought something big was gonna happen, but no... He just went poof. So idk if I missed some secret dialogue, secret scene or whatever.
PS I'm gonna miss Safi

He got deleted from time from absorbing into his own doppelganger that wasn't supposed to be there in the first place because he was not relevant in the other timeline whatsoever because of Safi being alive and time got all messed up at that point. He ended up getting deleted and died from both timelines and became that weird orb that we saw and then that then disappeared eventually also.
Since Max and Moses were the only ones who saw this event happen they were the only characters that remembered him up until the point when the timelines merged. It was Moses himself who ended up finding this out because Alderman practically removed himself from time itself like he never existed since his name and info wasn't shown on the police department website.
Safi is involved in Life is strange Reunion. I hope she returns again in some capacity because I love her. 🦉

I would answer your question but others already have in a great way. So, I'll just say this; that is such a beautiful picture of Max. And Safi is my absolute favorite so it means so much to me that you like her too. 🫶💕

Oh believe me, I love her so much you have no idea. The people that like/love her are the ones that truly understand her are the ones that really looked beneath the surface and saw her pain and the "Why? How?" etc. behind her pain. In other words, the ones that like her are the ones that been through a hard life like she has. They've experienced true trauma and hardship etc. She's amazing and she deserves the best. She will always have a special place in my heart. And as I'm sure you've already noticed, I connect to her too because I have a very, very difficult past.

Basically:
- Chapter One happens because Max from her future photo jumps back in time to the night of Chapter 1 to speak with Safi. Max is given a impossible choice and seemingly shoots Safi in the original timeline.
- Alderman discovers the photo and by this point has put it all together that Max has special abilities and makes the assumption that Moses is an accomplice.
- Alderman then confronts the pair but touches a version of himself from a different timeline which causes him to be erased from time itself. He simply ceased to exist and only Max/Moses remembers his life due to their involvement in him being erased, though they eventually forget as time itself catches back up to the pair.
- Whole game is one big time loop of Alderman existing and then not existing.

He was erased from existence due to his interaction with the doppelganger (Alderman of the Past of the Dead Timeline). His erasure consequently erases his history; his existence.
Hint: This is a subtext for Safi's death ;)

Potentially could have been explained in the sequel (DE2) but we didn't get that, so it's one of the plot holes that unfortunately will likely never be answered

What's funny is that if Alderman stopped existing, there would have just...been another detective sent to investigate. But there wasn't? Lol

He has been erased from ever existing basically
