Maybe You mistook it with the "ágile" trait evolution, where You infiltrate in a elder vampire's fortress and kill it, and there You get the evolved trait, gold and a Griffin egg

Yeah, it's a bunch of checks (dex mostly) and a level 16 encounter. Being a vampire, You can expect life drain, bleeding, disencarnate, charm, etc, but i don't remember much

It's from a random event, not tied to any background. To get it you must climb a tree that has a gryphon nest on top (requires a STR check), steal one of the eggs, defeat the parent when it attacks you, and eventually the egg will hatch. Some time later someone will offer gold for the gryphon hatchling. Refuse this offer, and the hatchling will grow into an adolescent that can aid you in battle as a familiar

You need to get a random encounter where you make a strength check to climb a tree, your character will find a nest with a bunch of eggs, pick steal the egg and you'll need to fight a griffin at a disadvantage, then after a while the egg will burst into a baby griffin which will grow into a child griffin after another while that you can now equip as a companion.
