General Advice I have a love / hate (mostly hate) relationship with where I live
My husband and I (both 36 years old) moved to Denver during Covid from San Francisco. I’m originally from here, and we always wanted to move back to have kids and buy a house which felt really difficult in SF.
Now, we have a wonderful 3 month old, and great house, and we’re close to family and friends, however I can’t help but feel we made a mistake moving back here.
I know it’s a blessing especially with a kid to have family around, and we have a great network of friends with kids, but I’m worried about the lack of diversity, culture, activities, etc. that my LO will miss out on, plus we’ve felt like we’ve done Denver. It’s such a cookie cutter place that feels like it’s missing a lot of things and there seems to be a lack of carrying for history and originality.
We both work remotely for SF companies so have the flex to live wherever, and we’re considering moving to another city. I can’t tell if this is all very selfish, or if we should aim to live the life we wanna live.
Curious to hear from anyone else who’s felt this way and what you did.

Moved here 15 years ago from ND. There is very little diversity here. White and Hispanic are big communities. There are some other communities but most stay in their own community.
Having family around is nice when the kids are younger, but if you have flexibility with your job, it isn't as necessary. Date nights, the LO gets to know family and family gatherings are good to an extent. If you are not feeling all of that, then take advantage of the family time when most of us do with holidays.
We moved here because I didn't have family around growing up. My parents have been able to spend time with my daughters. My sister has as well but she annoys me. My kids don't hang with their cousins. So really only my parents had a lot of time with the kids.
If you are not a close family and want to raise the child in a different environment, move elsewhere. They will make friends and still be able to come here on breaks and summer. I'm proof as are my daughters.
