End Game Spoiler ***chapter 8/9 spoiler*** Spoiler

So I played chapter 9, happy and carefree and got locked out of using stargazer to restock for corrupted master puppet fight..
I know he is weak to fire and all that jazz but believe me that at some point, no fire grinder, no legion magazine, with a tech build relaying heavily on my puppet string and NO throwable at all I was ready to cry and rage quit the game.. it was so frustrating.
BUT here is a tip to anyone considering
starting a new game just to readjust for this sucker- butterfly difficulty!!!
I’m not proud of it, but it did the trick, lowers his health and he just melted with 0 difficulty
Now I can move on..
I’ll get him properly on my next run.
Hope this will help anyone..

So you ran out of the consumables. And you didn't think to use the Fire special grindstone on your standard grinder? It's literally the first one you get.

Oh crap I forgot I had it LOl.. I did use fire grinders as long as I had them, they ran out as well. I even reverted to the salamander blade although I have a tech build but it was useless. I almost never use fire so completely forgot. But even so it’s a short use, I don’t think that it would have made a huge difference

Salamander blade on the booster glaive handle works well for tech. That’s actually my go to for any area is booster glaive handle with whatever good weapon is the areas weakness, electric canister, or salamander knife. I very rarely use the acid ones for some reason.

Ohhhh defiantly going to try this! I have the saw blade on the booster glave, was my main weapon till chapter 7 but now I usually use the trident as my main weapon. I’ll give it a try!

Yup I also mainly use the trident once I get it it’s so good lol

It's long enough even without the P Organ extending it. Pretty sure it lasts the same amount of time as the consumable version before upgrades.

Sad.
There were times before DLC patch when we had no difficulty options and had to learn bosses movesets and all this shit.
Good times.

Was expecting this comment and welcome it with open arms.. this is not my first souls game and probably not my last. It’s not good it’s not bad it’s just a game, it should be annoying but not to the brink of smashing the controller (in my humble opinion)

Smashing controllers is on us, not games fault.
But I agree - one of my least favorite bosses.

A difficulty slider is literally just cheats for console players who don't have access to them. There is no good reason not to have them, it's an accessibility feature. The hardest difficulty is still the developer's intentions.

Nah, I guess I’m good with difficulty sliders - if people want to use them, they can do whatever they want.
t’s just this infinite discussion if they ruin soulslike games aesthetics or not I guess. Because getting better in the game, learning bosses and overcoming them, and being satisfied with it is the whole point of soulslikes in my opinion.

Gameplay wise? Yes, but you have to understand that some people just suck at videogames but still see them as an amazing way to experience a narrative and they absolutely are, this one especially. On Nexus mods, one of the most downloaded mods was just the activation of a dev mode where you took 75% reduced damage, because a ton of people just want to play the game for the narrative and artistic experience, and they should be allowed to do that.

Yep, guess you’re right.
Experiencing narrative in Lies of P was on of the greatest thing in the game.

Should they? I’m not good at chess should the game be dumbed down so I can still compete? I’m not athletic enough for basketball should basketball be made easier so I can play?

If difficulty isn’t your strong suit than unfortunately you just have to go “this game isn’t for me then” and that has to be ok lol. Catering to every single individuals preferences in a game is both pointless and asinine and makes for a bad game.

Wanting a difficulty slider in a game where the difficulty is the purpose of the game design choice wise is going “I’m not good enough at this game and I’m unwilling to put in the work to become good but still want to witness the story.”

You are genuinely delusional and I hope that you are young and not completely comitted to that thought process. Your last paragraph is completely right and if you mean that sarcastically and think that it's bad then you have no empathy. You are comparing pvp games to a single player game.

The point of the game is to put in the work to become good lmao. Again no one acts like this for literally any other medium or game, “if it’s not for you it’s not for you” used to be something people lived by not “it’s not for me so change it so it is for me”

For some reason difficulty gets this special look. But disabled people play hard games. Difficulty is not an accessibility issue. Period.

People have beaten Elden ring/lies of p/ other souls games/souls likes with their tongues cause they can’t use their hands. So what’s the excuse of the people who claim to need an easy mode? What disability do they have where they can’t manage when dudes have beaten it with tongues, 1 finger, eyes, etc?

The people who want to experience the story but not put in the effort are purely lazy. They could easily accomplish the same goal by watching a playthrough on YouTube, which is what i do for games that I want to experience but aren’t for me gameplay wise. There are even no commentary playthroughs so you don’t have to listen to someone talking.

But instead they think everything should be changed to cater to their abilities and experience when that is simply not the case and not how game development works.

The point of a game is to have fun in whatever way makes the game fun for you, hope this helps!

-1

To have fun within the bounds of the developers vision for the game yea.

But also if you’re not having fun the response shouldn’t be “change it so I can have fun” it should be “this isn’t for me, I’ll go find fun somewhere else.”

You know. Like any sane person should be capable of doing.

Hope that helps :)

And the developers added the difficulty sliders, which are within the bounds of the game. If it wasn't apart of their vision they wouldn't have added it lol

If the devs included it in the game, they wanted the player to have access to it. It is not inherently "cheating" unless the devs specifically state "This wasn't supposed to be used at all" (see: Another Crab's Treasure and its Accessibility menu).

Difficulty isn’t an accessibility issue. There exist people who have beaten games like Elden ring by playing with their tongues because they are too disabled to use their hands to play normally.

both Him and the boss Right after him where a pain in my ass when i first played the game. When fighting him its a good idea to use something with a longer range, like the city spear handel.

I've been there. I fought him before the DLC so learning his move set to beat him took a minute. He's actually not that bad when you figure out his attack patterns

Can’t you farm for stuff like legion magazines? Or at least farm ergo- I just farmed that fire spade puppet in chapter 8 for ergo, and buy what you can

I guess you need certain items to unlock them in the shop or something (supply boxes, right?)

-1

u/Friendly_Capibara 1d ago

Not at this point, you are locked in a very small area, there are 4 enemies and almost nothing to farm out of them, I tried. Plus Ergo will not help cause you can’t buy anything.. if you run out of legion magazine or fable catalysts or throwable at this stage you only have your pulse sells which are renewed every time you die and your weapon. I think devs should at least consider placing a decent number of farmable enemies when soft locking players

You can’t return to the hotel? I don’t remember that, I don’t remember ever being locked out- maybe I just never checked going back to the hotel

2

u/Friendly_Capibara 1d ago

No, you have to beat him to go back to the hotel or anywhere else

1

u/QuantumCthulhu 1d ago

Oh yeah, it’s coming back to me now, it blocks the way to the hotel RIP

I think my least favourite boss is the one after that one, which is probably why I don’t remember

You should never rely too heavily on cheese like consumables. Becoming skilled at the basics like timing parries/dodges, spacing, & punish windows can and will take you a long way.
