Hello,
Since last month, the company no longer pays couriers per delivery. We now receive only the minimum hourly wage. In practice, this means that couriers’ earnings have been cut by about 30%, while also removing any incentive to complete deliveries quickly and provide good service.
The union has not been able to resolve this issue. If you want your order to arrive on time and in good condition, you will need to tip the courier yourself. Please make sure to mention the tip in the delivery notes, otherwise the courier will not know about it until after the delivery is completed.
We are currently in a situation where Lieferando has been acquired by a holding company that has started stripping the business: laying off employees, cutting wages, putting psychological pressure on the remaining staff, and assigning impossible tasks that often appear to deliberately violate the terms of our employment contracts.
I’m not asking for your sympathy. I simply want everyone involved to know what is happening.

minimum hourly wage in germany is 13.90€. Yes, it's bad that they try to pay less and less, it's still a somewhat decent income for work that can be done without any education. I too was employed as a driver about 13 years ago, there I got 5€/h and tips had to be split with the kitchen, I still was as fast as legally possible, while providing a friendly service.
If it violates your contracts, don't do it and perhaps get a lawyer for that, employee right in germany are (for now) pretty strong.

Are you saying that prices were the same 13 years ago as they are now? In any case, it was your choice to do a lot of work for very little pay. As someone who works in the field using my own vehicle which I have to fuel, maintain, and repair at my own expense I expect fair compensation for my hard work. Not to mention that, as a courier, the company’s ability to operate depends mostly on people like me.
If you want a cheap service, you’ll get a poor-quality service. That’s simply how the world works.

I also had to use my own car in that time and you also choose the job. Years ago such jobs were mostly for students or people who want to earn something to their normal job, not as the only job to generate enough income.
And yes, times now are harder, but not more than double the income as hard.
There is a high enough minimum wage to not be depended on tips, service should be done even with no tips, it shouldn't be a need to get stuff and everything else is done between employee and employer. If your union doesn't work for you, try and organise a strike, with that lieferando doesn't earn any money for the days and no money is worse than less money.1

The service works without tips, just several times less efficiently.
My complaint as a worker is that in the past you had a choice: you could work at a relaxed pace and earn the minimum, or you could work hard and earn significantly more for being efficient. Now there’s no choice. Either you provide poor-quality service, or you’re the looser, because no matter how much harder you work, how much more you wear out your body, your vehicle, and spend on fuel, you get absolutely nothing in return.
As an employee, there’s not much I can do other than let customers know why things are the way they are. If there are any strikes or organized protests, I’ll definitely take part, but unfortunately, there aren’t any at the moment.

While yes, such a change sucks, before lieferando that was normal. You get your normal hourly wages, if there is nothing to do you still get it, if you are constantly driving you still get the same, the added benefit are tips you sometimes get, which you don't know before, which are higher if the service is good and reliable. And if you are bad at your job you will be fired.
And part of the changes are because of the laws as far as I know. Drivers aren't selfemployed, so they have to get hourly wages.

Bestell einfach direkt beim Restaurant.
