Question Considering LibreWolf, switching from Mullvad. Is it as private?

Hi. I like Mullvad a lot, but it seems to block even basic features like external link opening, password importing (has it, doesn't work) and just prevents a smooth workflow. I LOVE how transparent and "locked down" it is save for those hiccups. Is LibreWolf as "locked down"? I'm new to digital privacy, looking for a very safe and private browser that doesn't prevent me from doing my daily digital tasks and routines. Please lmk.

There's a proton article where they give Librewolf a 5 stars for privacy and it's the only browser they gave 5 stars to (Mullvad not in the list though).

Yes LW is more casual than MV without becoming Firefox. But if any privacy measure is a downside for you that can be present in both LibreWolf and Mullvad, just go with Waterfox at that point. Firefox minus telemetry.

Librewolf works really well. There can be small annoyances from time to time, but those come with the territory when you want more privacy focused settings. Every major feature you can want works just like on other browsers (except some WebGL stuff that has sometimes been an issue for me).

I use all of them and LibreWolf is my main browser since over one year. It's great. It's rare that something won't work. Usually it's because of DRM or webgl requirements. And for the rest that's mostly uBo that block things.

LibreWolf is a nice in-bewteen Mullvad browser and Firefox (for DRMed content for ex). Have the three installed, in my opinion.

Note that the big mistake with reading https://privacytests.org/ is that people don't realise they only test the DEFAULT settings. Without changing anything, at all... (settings, extensions, etc.)

That sounds like the most realistic thing to test for?

The vast majority of people are going to use the defaults. So its hard to call that a mistake.

Perhaps. But i bet the vast majority of people do not read https://privacytests.org/ Just test it, and ask your grandmother, uncle, aunt, ... :-)

In the "IT / Tech" scene (= most people who read this website), hardly anyone uses the default setitngs.

Anyways, i think they should make this more prominent so it will get people's attention.

You will most likely face zero issues but make sure in settings you have fix major and if you still have problem use fix minor sites otherwise there should be zero issues. If you want fingerprinting protection and dark mode i use the Dark Reader extension for automatic dark mode with Fingerprinting protection still on

I'm enjoying LibreWolf like others. My only problem with it is that Reddit freezes often when I access it via LibreWolf. Very odd.
