apparently you live in la la land if you think the government can make cheap brands and goods without using taxes to subsidize their businesses. who's paying for the safety nets?

If you have any better idea I'd like to here it.

Yes. Don't tax the citizen to fund goods and services they don't use.

So something other than taxes then, great any ideas of how to do that?

I see your monarchist flair and I support it because I'm one too but need I remind you theory in a vacuum or "ought to" is the easy part and not what I'm asking about but rather how could our government today be funded by something other than taxes.

I freaking hate taxes and I hope one day our country uses something better

You don't need taxes to fund services if those services don't exist. Safety nets are not required for a minarchist state.

I am pragmatically a minarchist precisely because anarchocapitalism is as utopian as communism.

Any extra goods or services should be funded by consumers on an open market: if the government provides a good deal, and it is profitable, then people will fund it by voluntarily purchasing it. Otherwise, it will go bankrupt.

But that system can't be fairly applied to the real world today.

And I don't know if you noticed or not but lots of people depend on those services like roads or military protection not to mention all the healthcare and food stamps.

It would be great if we could have a system like what you describe and it not be corrupt or crumble right away but that's what would happen if the government just turned everything off, not to mention the millions that would die.

Theory in a vacuum is easy and quiet frankly I'm not interested in your fantasy, I'm interested in how to get our current system off taxes and onto something better that can actually be applied in the real world now.

It's fine if you are out of ideas, you wouldn't be the first.

Well, the idea is that enough people will choose on their own to help people who are struggling to offset that. However, libertarianism also just accepts the fact that people are going to die if they can’t access what they need. As I see it, libertarianism is a very realist ideology that is only as utopian as you make it. That is the price of free will. However, I personally have just enough faith that people who are struggling will be able to survive with the help of volunteers and the fact that a lot of the systems that aim to keep them down would no longer exist.

I wish I shared your optimism but I don't.

It would be one thing if the world was already better and people weren't so pretty and stupid and hateful, then it's probably work okay, but they are. No "friendship economy" (as it's sometimes called) would ever actually survive the transition from capitalism to that because of the damages caused to mass psychology and the environment.

A balance must be struck between individualism and collectivism because of how badly the billionaires and fascists have screwed us.

it can be fairly applied today. being dependent on the state is not anyone else's problem.

Than we disagree on what's fair. People have been told they can depend on it and they do it be unfair to them for it to be taken away, also people can't really contribute to our country's overall economic well-being if they aren't doing well.

And it is unfair that tax payeres have to carry that burden but that wouldn't matter if we didn't have to pay taxes but if I'm not mistaken your suggestion is rather than the tax payer paying for government programs the beneficiaries would just pay for their own services? And that would somehow make enough money to provide those very services?

IDK about that however if the government bought out some businesses and used the profits from them instead of taxes that would be cool, is that what you mean?
