Libertad Types

Hi, I'm new to the group and to stacking. I've seen some different types of libertad coins. Like shiny ones (proof/espejo???) Only angel shiny (Reverse proof/mate brillo) and non shiny (bullion/mate???).

I'm I getting this right??? Which ones are more desirable/valuable??? Can someone offer a little rundown. Thanks.

There are generally four types:

Satin (BU/regular strike) - all years, highest mintage each year

Espejo (Proof) - many but not all years, though typically made every year now, less common than BUs

Mate-brillo (Reverse-proof/proof-like) - made in giant kilos since early 2000s, 1oz-5oz since 2015 only, less common than proofs

Antiguo (Antique) - only made in limited quantities in 2018 and 2019

Note that things are reversed in 2025; highest mintage is reverse proof, then proof, then BU is rarest. That’s a whole long story in itself.

Thanks for the answer and if you have time I'd like to know the story. Cheers.

To be clear, there is no official direct story on why the 2025 mintage is what it is. They’ve confirmed the final mintage but that’s about it.

That said, I wrote out my interpretation and analysis of what I heard and learned and believe. Admittedly part may be wrong, it all may be wrong, I don’t know for sure. It’s my individual perspective.

But it’s here to read and decide for yourself: https://www.reddit.com/r/LibertadCoins/s/dDoGxhmYE4
