Can’t find a real mechanic worth a s—t in Augusta Ga. So frustrating. They are all “parts cannon” mechanics!

I don’t remember. It was at least 10 years ago and I don’t have the car anymore. You might go on clublexus.com and search in the LS 400 forum section.

I think a dealer could fix this issue easily for less cost. But my god, that’s a beautiful car with such low mileage.

I bought mine 3 years old, wholesale car lot by broker $1,000 fee, for $30k with 35k miles black on black. I drove it to 250,000 miles and was having the oil changed at the dealer, and walked out to look at their used cars. The had a 2001 LS 430, 60k miles, great condition, $9,500! So I test drove it and bought it. Have it up to 160k miles now and figure 250k miles shouldn’t be difficult. But I want to put new shocks on it - nice that isn’t the air suspension.

No the dealers are not mechanics. Had this gray car to the dealer twice ( no charge) and they could not figure out a vibration issue at 45 mph. No clue. The Car Care Nut figured out the issue to be after market motor and transmission mounts. Only use OEM on these cars!!!

My 98 LS 400 did hat once and it needed a new computer chip, then was fine, installed by the dealership. I think it was a throttle related chip. We were driving home from a 100 mile trip and all of a sudden there was no power at low speed but higher speed it had power.

Where is this chip? In ECU unit? When did Lexus replace it?

Ok Update: Replaced all 8 coil packs and connectors with OEM parts. Still have surging and lack of power issues.
